The present invention provides a sliding roof for a vehicle including a plurality of roof panels separately mounted on an opening of a fixed roof of the vehicle in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle, a guide frame attached at a lower portion of each side edge of the opening, and an anchor installed into the guide frame to engage with at least part of the roof panel, so as to assist open-close operations of the plurality of the roof panels in the vicinity of a closed state thereof. Sliding of sliders attached to the each guide frame allows the plurality of the roof panels to open or close in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle. The sliding roof for a vehicle further includes a guide member installed into the guide frame to guide a movement of engagement portions of the plurality of the roof panels adjacent in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The anchor and the guide member are installed into an identical groove formed on the guide frame.

A vehicular sunroof apparatus includes a sunroof panel having a front panel and a rear panel configured to open and close an opening formed in a vehicle roof. A first drive mechanism effects rising/lowering and opening/closing movements of the front panel relative to the opening of the vehicle roof. A second drive mechanism effects rising/lowering and opening/closing movements of the rear panel relative to the opening of the vehicle roof. The second drive mechanism comprises a rear panel support stay that supports the rear panel, a stay extension connected to the rear panel support stay and mounted to undergo sliding and vertical swinging movement relative to the vehicle roof, and a stopper member that is mounted on the vehicle roof and that provides an upper limit of vertical swing of the stay extension.

A vehicular sunroof apparatus includes a front panel, a rear panel, a linking rod, a rod-locking part, and a slider linking part. The linking rod is connected to a rear slider provided for opening the rear panel. The present invention provides a panel seal structure having a seal mounted around the outer circumferential edge of a panel body, such as glass panel, covering an opening formed in a vehicle body. An upper face of the seal is set to be substantially flush with an upper face of the panel body. A lip to be contactable with an edge of the panel body is formed along the upper face of the seal, and the edge of the lip is deformed downward upon contact with the edge of the panel body. Thereby, since the edge of the lip is deformed downward, a dimensional error of the panel body is accommodated for, and the continuity between the upper face of the seal and the upper face of the panel body is enhanced.

A holding means for the sunshade is constructed by forming sliding grooves in frames in both sides extending along a longitudinal direction in a side of a passenger room of the opening, forming a notch at a predetermined position of the groove L fitting front and rear sliders to which the sunshade is mounted, and integrally forming an engagement piece made of elastic member and fitted to the notch in the rear slider. In an automotive sun roof system, each of the front sliders is provided with at least three laterally extending slide shoes including a front inboard slide shoe, a rear inboard slide shoe and a front outboard slide shoe located intermediate between the inboard slide shoes with respect to a fore-and-aft direction, and the guide rail is provided with an inboard side defining an inboard guide slot and an outboard side defining an outboard guide slot adapted to receive the corresponding slide shoes, the outboard side of the guide rail being provided with a front end which is rearwardly offset from that of the inboard side of the guide rail. Thus, the front end of each guide rail is advanced as much as possible without increasing the exposure of such parts to the moisture that may drip from the fixed roof panel and/or moveable panel by taking into account the rounded shape of the opening in the fixed roof panel. Therefore, the position of the front sliders for the moveable panel can be advanced by a corresponding degree, and the overhang of the moveable panel from the front sliders can be minimized.
