A brake system that includes a first brake piston and a second brake piston; a motor; a distributing assembly that includes a first output and a second output, and a deactivator. The distributing assembly distributes torque or power from the motor to the first brake piston via the first output and to the second brake piston via the second output. In a first operating configuration, the deactivator is inactive, and the distributing assembly distributes the torque or power to both of the first and second outputs such that a speed of the first output and the second output varies. In a second operating configuration, the deactivator is configured to deactivate the distributing assembly and the distributing assembly distributes the torque or power to both of the first output and the second output such that the speed of the first output and the second output is generally the same.

A brake assembly comprising: (a) a caliper including: (i) one or more pistons, (b) one or more rotary to linear actuators that provides an axial force to move the one or more pistons, (c) a motor gear unit in communication with the one or more rotary to linear actuators, the motor gear unit including: (i) a motor; and (b) a motor brake that prevents movement of the motor gear unit, the pistons, or both when the motor is turned off so that a brake apply is maintained, the motor brake including: (i) housing; (ii) an engaging element; (iii) a sleeve, and (iv) a solenoid that is in communication with the sleeve so that when the solenoid moves the sleeve, the engaging element is moved into contact with the housing creating a braking force.

A disc brake system that is an opposed piston brake system. The disc brake system includes a brake caliper having an inboard side and an outboard side. The inboard side of the brake caliper is configured to support more brake pistons than the outboard side of the brake caliper.

Multi-caliper brake assembly per rotor

A torque transferring assembly that includes: a first output; a second output; and a spider located in between the first output and the second output. The spider is adapted to support a plurality of torque transferring elements such that each of the torque transferring elements are in communication with both of the first output and the second output. The torque transferring assembly is adapted to supply a torque to both the first output and the second output so that both outputs rotate together until a load or resistance acting on the first output becomes higher than a load or resistance acting on the second output. The torque transferring assembly is then adapted to transfer the torque to the second output so that the first output slows or ceases to rotate, while the second output continues to rotate.

A support portion () has three screw insertion portions (, and) which is fixed to a caliper, and arranged so as to surround an output shaft (). Therefore, it is possible to firmly fix a case () to the caliper at these fixing locations. Additionally, since the fixing locations are determined so as to collectively define a 'plane', it is possible to effectively inhibit a sway of the case () with respect to the caliper. Furthermore, it is possible to inhibit a twist of the case (), and it is possible to sufficiently support a vehicle requiring large torque such as a truck.

A linear stage assembly comprising a nut having a wall defining a bore which has a nut helical thread which includes: a crest, a root, and a flank between the crest and root; a screw having a screw helical thread about an exterior which includes: a crest, a root, and a flank between the crest and the root; wherein the nut and the screw are in a mating relationship so that the nut flank and the screw flank are in contact with one another defining a contact interface which imposes a frictional force that is sufficiently small to allow generally longitudinal movement in response to an actuation load of the screw or the nut relative to the other and sufficiently large to prevent back drive of the screw or the nut relative to the other after the actuation load is removed and in response to an opposing reaction force.

Linear motion mechanism

A brake piston includes a piston pocket. The piston pocket receives a nut that is axially moveable along a center axis. The nut is restricted from rotating within the piston pocket when a torque due to a frictional engagement between a nut seal and an inner pocket wall, one or more projections, or both is greater than an it torque at the nut. The nut is rotatable within the piston pocket when a torque due to the frictional engagement between the nut seal and the inner pocket wall, the one or more projections or both is less than the input torque at the nut and is less than the torque due to the frictional engagement between the piston and the piston seal.

Brake piston

A brake piston assembly including a brake piston; a rotary to linear stage mechanism including a spindle and a nut; and a ball ramp assembly including a nut ramp plate and a piston ramp plate. The brake piston includes a piston pocket. The ball ramp assembly is located at a bottom wall of the piston pocket. The ball ramp assembly engages a side wall of the piston pocket so that the ball ramp assembly is maintained in the piston pocket after the ball ramp assembly is assembled in the piston pocket. Rotation of the spindle causes the nut to axially move until the nut directly contacts the nut ramp plate, and further axial movement of the nut causes the nut to move the ball ramp assembly and the brake piston against an inboard brake pad to create a clamp force.

A brake system including a piston brake system and an integral parking brake system. The brake system includes a brake piston having a piston bore, and a brake pad. The parking brake system includes a rotary to linear stage mechanism located at least partially within the piston bore. During a brake apply, the brake piston and the brake pad are moved against a brake rotor to create a clamp force. During a parking brake apply, the rotary to linear stage mechanism transfers torque into a linear force to move the same brake piston and the same brake pad against the brake rotor to create a clamp force.

A brake piston includes a piston pocket. The piston pocket receives a nut that is axially movable along a center axis. The nut is restricted from rotating within the piston pocket when a torque due to a frictional engagement between a nut seal and an inner pocket wall, one or more projections, or both is greater than an input torque at the nut. The nut is rotatable within the piston pocket when a torque due to the frictional engagement between the nut seal and the inner pocket wall, the one or more projections or both is less than the input torque at the nut and is less than the torque due to the frictional engagement between the piston and the piston seal.

There is provided a drum brake type electric parking brake apparatus includes an electric actuator unit, a backing plate and a knuckle. The electric actuator unit includes an electric motor and a decelerator, and expands a gap between one end portions of the brake shoes based on activation of the electric motor. The electric actuator unit is separately provided from the backing plate. The electric actuator unit is arranged at an inner-side surface of the knuckle, and the backing plate is arranged at an outer-side surface of the knuckle. The backing plate and the electric actuator unit are supported and fixed to the knuckle.

Drum brake type electric parking brake apparatus

A drum brake type electric parking brake apparatus includes an electric actuator unit configured to pull a cable so as to expand an expanding mechanism, a pulling pipe into which the cable is loosely inserted and supported so as to move in an axial direction, a feeding nut supported so as to move in only a rotation direction and provided with a female screw which is engaged with a male screw on the pulling pipe, and a connecting unit connecting a base end of the pulling pipe and a base end of the cable so as to pull the cable in a direction away from the expanding mechanism with the pulling pipe. The base end of the cable is projected from the base end of the pulling pipe which is an end opposite to the expanding mechanism.

An apparatus for optical measurement of a liquid or molten material, which has: a transparent container which has a bottom face and is capable of containing a to-be-measured material therein, with the bottom face at least having a flat face and being transparent; and an optical device that irradiates a light to the bottom face of the container and that detects and measures a reflected light from the bottom face; and a method for optically measuring a liquid or molten material using the apparatus.
