Emission system part and method of manufacturing the part

An engine including a silencer in the exhaust passage thereof, wherein an exhaust gas flow passage pipe is arranged in the silencer body and a particulate filter is arranged inside the exhaust gas flow passage pipe. A first exhaust gas inflow-outflow opening and a second exhaust gas inflow-outflow opening of the exhaust gas passage pipe and an exhaust gas inflow opening to the silencer body are arranged at one end of the silencer body. The exhaust gas is selectively supplied to the first exhaust gas inflow-outflow opening, second exhaust gas inflow-outflow opening, and exhaust gas inflowing opening.

Exhaust device of internal combustion engine

An air flow control valve means for controlling air bleed of internal combustion engine. The air flow control valve means includes a valve housing, an air cleaner means attached to the valve housing, and a valve element adapted for opening and closing the air passage communicated with the air bleed passage. The valve housing is provided with tubular portions projected to the upstream side as viewed in the direction of flow of air introduced into the valve housing. The tubular portion has therein a bypass air passage which open at the end portion of the tubular portion. According to this arrangement, it is possible to avoid any foreign matters from coming into the bypass passage.

An air valve type two-stage twin compound carburetor for an internal combustion engine comprises a carburetor body including a primary bore and a secondary bore, a primary throttle valve which is arranged in the primary bore so that it can be opened and closed, a secondary throttle valve which is arranged in the secondary throttle bore so that it can be opened and closed co-operatively with the opening and closing of the primary throttle valve after the primary throttle valve has been opened beyond a certain degree, and an air valve which is arranged in the secondary bore upstream of a secondary fuel nozzle disposed upstream of the secondary throttle valve, so that the air valve is opened and closed. The degree of opening of the air valve is regulated so as to be opened when the primary throttle valve is in the idle closing position or in the initial opening position.

Air valve type twin compound carburetor for engines

An engine exhaust gas purification system has a secondary air system for supplying secondary air into the engine exhaust system. The secondary air system has an air metering valve and a switching valve. The air metering valve is operative to meter the secondary air supply in accordance with signals emitted by an air-fuel ratio sensor disposed in the exhaust system to detect the oxygen content of engine exhaust gases. The switching valve is disposed in the secondary air supply line downstream of the air metering valve to interrupt the supply of the secondary air into the exhaust system during a high load engine operation for thereby preventing the exhaust system and, particularly, the catalyst device therein from being overheated. The force to close the switching valve is strong enough to keep the valve closed against the counter-flow of engine exhaust gases from engine exhaust system back into the secondary air system.

Exhaust gas purification system for an internal combustion engine

An exhaust gas recirculation apparatus of the so-called exhaust gas pressure control type, including, in combination, a vacuum-operated pressure control valve adapted for controlling the pressure of the exhaust gas in the exhaust gas recirculation passageway connecting the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold, and a vacuum control valve adapted for controlling the level of the vacuum signal transmitted to the pressure control valve, for obtaining a predetermined constant pressure in the exhaust gas directed to the pressure control valve. A flow control valve is provided for controlling the amount of exhaust gas directed to the pressure control valve in accordance with the load of the engine. The flow control valve has an exhaust gas passageway with a constant flow area, and another exhaust gas passageway with a flow area that is varied in accordance with the load of the engine.

Exhaust gas recirculation apparatus for an internal combustion engine

A carburetor with an auxiliary accelerator-pump system including a diaphragm pump. The diaphragm pump includes a fuel chamber and a vacuum chamber which are separated by a spring-loaded diaphragm. The fuel chamber leads by way of a check valve to a fuel reservoir or float bowl in a carburetor and by way of another check valve to a pump jet or nozzle which is open into an intake passage in a carburetor, while the vacuum chamber leads to a vacuum take-off port open in the intake passage downstream of a throttle valve. The fuel chamber is further communicated by way of a temperature responsive valve means with the fuel reservoir, and this valve means is adapted to open, when an ambient temperature exceeds a given temperature level.

Carburetor with auxiliary accelerator-pump system

A carburetor with an auxiliary accelerator-pump system including a diaphragm pump. This diaphragm pump includes a fuel chamber and a vacuum chamber which are separated by a spring-loaded diaphragm. The fuel chamber leads by way of a check valve to a fuel reservoir or float bowl in the carburetor and by way of another check valve to a pump jet or nozzle which is open into the intake passage of the carburetor, while the vacuum chamber leads to a vacuum take-off port open into the intake passage downstream of its throttle valve. This fuel chamber is communicated by way of a valve with the fuel reservoir or float bowl, the aforesaid valve being actuated in response to a vacuum prevailing in the intake passage downstream of the throttle valve.
