A display image formation device enables, in an intuitive manner, designation of a location which the user wishes to see when multiple panoramic images obtained by multiple panoramic cameras are present, and enables display of the image for a designated site in a suitable state. One panoramic camera is selected from multiple panoramic cameras on the basis of the positional relationship between a designated position on a planar map and the multiple panoramic cameras. An extracted image region, which is extracted from the image photographed by the selected panoramic camera, is determined. A display image is generated such that the extracted image is arranged on the planar map.

An image pickup device transmits to a server a transmission sample including a detection image detected by a first detection section from a transmitting/receiving section under the control of a transmission sample control section. The server performs detection processing that requires more resources than those of the first detection section on the detection image transmitted by a second detection section from the image pickup device, and determines whether or not the detection image in question is spurious, based on a second detection score which is thereby obtained. An image processing device comprises a region dividing unit which divides a captured image obtained by a camera unit into a plurality of regions, and an image compressing unit which compresses each of region images obtained by the division by the region dividing unit while changing the compression rate according to the distance from a predetermined point in the captured image to each of the region images and the distance from the camera unit to a target included in each of the regions. For example, the image compressing unit compresses the region image having a larger angle from the optical axis at a larger compression rate, thereby achieving compression in which the amount of data in low-quality regions is greatly reduced and the quality of high-quality regions is maintained.
