An object of the present invention is to provide a multi-channel transmission system suitable for a digital broadcasting system that broadcasts television programs of many channels. Specifically, a selected one of television programs of a plurality of channels is supplied to an AV adjusting device. At this time, the selected television program is supplied to a monitor to allow recognition of its adjustment state. Since video signals and audio signals of television programs supplied from respective program supplying companies and program producing companies have different characteristics, they need to be adjusted to have common characteristics. Adjusted television programs and unselected television programs are supplied to a multiplexing section via routers.

In a video signal recording apparatus, information about a video commercial program or message (CM) is recorded in the vertical blanking interval (VBI) of the video signal constituting the commercial message so that the information remains with the commercial program or message even during subsequent editing. Video signals representing a plurality of commercial messages and having respective information in the vertical blanking intervals are serially recorded on a master tape while generating stop code data and recording the stop codes in a longitudinal track on the master tape. Further, a video signal reproducing apparatus is described which can extract data from the VBI and longitudinal track of a tape, process the data and automatically terminate the reproduction after reproducing a stop code.

Apparatus for recording a video signal having programs and control data

A matrix switching apparatus includes a plurality of switching units connected in tandem, each switching unit having a plurality of input terminals and a plurality of output terminals. There are a plurality of transmission/reception units, each provided within a respective switching unit and also within a remote control unit. The transmission/reception units are for transmitting switching data. A first one of the transmission/reception units is set to a master station mode and sequentially polls the remaining transmission/reception units which are set to a slave station mode. The remaining units respond to the polling by outputting switching data, which is collectively transmitted by the master station over a serial busline. The remaining transmission/reception units receive only relevant data from the switching data transmitted over the serial busline and supply the relevant data to controlling units which control the turning on and off of crosspoint switches in the switching units.

A time code generator having a time code generating circuit for generating a first time code signal in response to a vertical synchronizing signal, a memory for storing a second time code signal reproduced from a VTR, a circuit for comparing the first time code signal with the second time code signal to produce an inconformity signal, a counter for counting the inconformity signal and a circuit for loading the second time code signal to the time code generating circuit according to an output of the counter.

Time code generator

A time code correction circuit is formed of an input circuit for receiving an input time code; first and second memories for storing data representing the time code; an adder for selectively incrementing or decrementing data to be supplied to the first and second memories; a comparator comparing the data stored in the first memory with the input time code; a switch controlled by the comparator for selectively supplying the adder with the input time code and the data started second memory; and an output circuit coupled to provide the contents of the second memory as a corrected output time code. Where the time code is reproduced from a time code track recorded on a magnetic tape, the correction circuit is favorably adapted to produce a continuous time code sequence despite dropout in the recorded time code. Also, if a jump occurs in the recorded time code sequence, the correction circuit causes the output time code to reflect such jump with a minimum of signal disturbance.
