An optical apparatus comprises an association device which operates a viewfinder in association with a movement of an image forming optical system. After the movement of the image forming optical system, the association device severs the association of the viewfinder with respect to a movement of the image forming optical system in a direction different from that of the first-mentioned movement.

In a data imprinting device of a camera arranged to effect shooting either in a first shooting format in which a scene is recorded on a substantially entire area of a photosensitive zone of a film frame or in a second shooting format in which a part of the photosensitive zone of the film frame is shielded from light to form a light-shielded area thereof and a scene is recorded on a light-unshielded area of the photosensitive zone other than the light-shielded area, there are provided a data imprinting part for imprinting data on a film surface, and a data-imprinting control part arranged to vary a position where the data is to be imprinted by the data imprinting part according whether the shooting is effected in the first shooting format or the second shooting format, so that data imprinted in different shooting formats can be located always in adequate positions within printed pictures irrespectively of the difference in shooting format.

A camera of the kind arranged to wind a film onto a spool in the reverse winding direction comprises a spool for taking up the film in the reverse winding direction, a guide roller, and a position changing member for changing a position of the spool to cause the film to be inserted and pinched between the spool and the guide roller so that the film is advanced by a driving force of the spool.

The disclosed camera changes between two focal lengths by bringing or taking a built-in attachment lens into and out of axial alignment with a master lens. A single electric motor serves as the drive source both for changing the focal length and effecting automatic focusing. The attachment lens is brought into axial alignment with the master lens for telephoto operation and taken out of axial alignment with the master lens for standard operation.

The present patent application discloses a flash device for camera, or a camera, including a light emitter for flash photography mounted about a pivot shaft on the camera body and a light condenser mounted about a pivot shaft on the photographic lens barrel which moves to vary the light distribution characteristics of the light emitter as the focal length of the photographic optical system varies, wherein when the flash device is in use, the light condenser moves as the focal length of the photographic optical system varies, thus making it possible to obtain the light distribution characteristic which is suited to the focal length of the photographic optical system, while when not in use, the light emitter and the light condenser are turned to be integrally housed in an appropriate plate of either the lens barrel or the camera body.

An optical system shifting device for a camera in which an optical system is shifted in the direction of the optical axis by the driving force of a motor, wherein a first positioning member effects the positioning of the optical system in the direction of the optical axis independently of the driving force of the motor, a second positioning member effects the positioning of the optical system in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis of the optical system, and a switching member actuates the motor by giving an external force to the optical system, whereby the functional features as well as maneuverability of the optical system shifting device are improved.

In a vari-focal camera which has a photo-taking optical system including a main lens system and an auxiliary lens system and is arranged to be shiftable between at least two different focal lengths by moving the photo-taking optical system back and forth on a photo-taking optical axis in such a way as to cause the auxiliary lens system to move onto and out of the optical axis, a guide bar is arranged to allow a lens barrel unit which includes the photo-taking optical system, a shutter and a photo-taking lens focusing device to straightly move. The guide bar is fittingly engaged with a member secured to a camera body. The camera is further provided with an adjusting member for focusing the photo-taking optical system in each of preset positions in which the photo-taking lens has the different focal lengths.

A motorized camera having a gear train between an electric reversible motor and a film rewind fork with a mechanism for transferring the driving torque from an intermediate gear of the train to move a member having function other than film transportation as the gear is out of mesh with the next one, wherein a mechanism is provided between the last gear of the train and the rewind fork so that only when the last gear has rotated by a prescribed angular distance, the fork starts to engage the supply spool of the film cartridge to rewind the film.
