A method for inspecting the stripped condition of an electric wire permits inspection of electric wires having a tip portion of various configuration with high accuracy and reliability. In this method, stripped condition is judged to be good or not good by: illuminating a core 6 at a tip portion of the electric wire 4 and its vicinity by means of illumination means 11; imaging the core and its vicinity by means of imaging means 12, the imaging means disposed in opposite relation to the illumination means 11 with the electric wire 4 therebetween; determining coordinate position of stripped end of the sheath in an imaging plane using illumination data of a picture obtained by the imaging means; determining coordinate position of the tip end of the core 6 in the imaging plane, as well as shape of the core 6, such as inclination of the core 6; determining as to whether the coordinate position of the stripped end is within a standard range, whether length and thickness of the core are within a standard range, or whether strands come out of the core.

Method for inspecting stripped condition of electric wire

A bellows tube installation device comprises a first clamp mechanism 4 for holding a bellows tube T placed over a tube guide 1. The first clamp mechanism 4 is displaced toward the distal end portion of the tube guide 1 along tube guide, so that a slit of the bellows tube having reached the distal end of the tube guide 1 is enlarged. An electric wire W is inserted into the bellows tube T at the distal end portion thereof through such an enlarged slit. The bellows tube T, having the electric wire W inserted therein at the distal end portion thereof, is clampedly held by a second clamp mechanism 6. The second clamp mechanism 6 is displaced along the electric wire W toward the distal end of the electric wire by a second displacement mechanism 7, whereby the bellows tube T is entirely fitted over the electric wire W.

Bellows tube installation device

A binding apparatus has a pair of arms provided on a frame so as to be pivotal in opposite directions. A gear mechanism interlocks the arms with each other. Hooks are provided on an end of each of the arms between which a rubber band, shorter than a bundle of cables in the peripheral length thereof is spanned having a slidable rod coupled thereto. A maintaining device maintains the open position of the arms, and a releasing device releases the maintaining device. When an unlocking lever is pressed downward by the weight of a bundle of electric cables placed in the center of the rubber band spanned between both hooks provided on both arms while in the open position, the stopper disengages from the gear and the arms pivot toward each other to place the rubber band around the bundle.

Binding apparatus for binding a bundle of lables or the like

In an image processor for detecting incomplete articles the image of a complete article is produced by a television camera so as to record the image, and the operator designates an area of the complete article that is considered to be essential in judging whether or not the subject of the inspection is complete while observing the reproduced image. Following this, the image of an inspection article is produced by another television camera. The video signals are binarized, and the number of the picture elements of the inspection article within the designated area is then counted. The inspection article is judged as being incomplete when this counted value fails to conform to the reference value obtained by statistically processing the number of the picture elements of the complete article.

A method of and an apparatus for inserting into a terminal cavity of a connector housing, a terminal of a wired terminal in which the terminal is connected with an electric wire, comprising: a terminal grip member for gripping the terminal, which includes a pair of guide arms openable and closable in a horizontal plane and a terminal press arm pivotable in a vertical plane; a wire grip member for gripping the electric wire, which includes a chuck retractably advanced along the guide arms between the guide arms, a first drive member for retractably advancing the chuck and a second drive member for opening and closing the chuck such that a state of grip of the terminal by the terminal grip member is cancelled and established by the chuck at a forward end and a rearward end of a stroke of the chuck, respectively; and a robot flange for supporting the terminal grip member and the wire grip member.

Method of and apparatus for inserting wired terminals into connector

An automatic wire press-connecting and laying out apparatus for a wire harness has, as its main portion, a wire press-connecting and laying out portion, comprising a wire feed portion having a wire feeding mechanism for individually feeding out wires and a wire severing mechanism for individually severing wires for feeding out wires, separate cassette lay-out boards detachably and horizontally disposed on a frame table in such a manner as to be opposite to each other via a depression and each having a group of connectors detachably arranged at predetermined positions thereon, and a head portion provided in such a manner as to vertically suspend over the cassette lay-out boards and having a transfer means for enabling the head portion to move to a relative position defined by orthogonal X and Y axis dimensions of the cassette lay-out boards, a wire drawing mechanism for individually drawing wires and a wire press-connecting mechanism comprising a plurality of wire press-connecting portions arranged in parallel. These wire drawing and wire press-connecting mechanisms are provided in such a manner as to face downwardly. A wire dimension adjusting mechanism for adjusting the dimension of individual wires is provided either on the wire feeding mechanism or on the wire drawing mechanism, and the head portion clamps wires protruding from the distal end of the wire feed portion and sequentially distributes the clamped wires to the connectors so as to be press-connected thereto. The wires are individually severed after the dimension of the individual wires has been adjusted, and the wires are laid out in a required configuration with the intermediate portions thereof being allowed to suspend into the depression so as to be received therein.

Automatic wire press-connecting and laying out apparatus for wire harness

An apparatus and method for producing a filament harness which comprises feeding a plurality of strands in a downstream direction onto a support which receives the strands. There is a head which contacts the strands and a control means for causing relative motion between the support and the head to form the plurality of wires into a predetermined, desired pattern. In addition, the product produced by the method is also disclosed.

Method of forming filament harness

A method and apparatus for connection of wires to a connector is disclosed. A means is provided for exerting a predetermined tension on the wires so that they are held in alignment while being pressed into the connector.

Method and apparatus for connecting electrical wires

A method of fitting a rubber stopper for a water-proof connector terminal onto an end portion of an electric wire includes the steps of: successively feeding a group of rubber stoppers aligned in a row in a state wherein each of the rubber stoppers has its longitudinal axis extending vertically; transferring each of the rubber stoppers into a stopper housing portion; retaining the electric wire disposed on an imaginary line passing through the center of the stopper housing portion; and press-fitting the wire into the rubber stopper, whereby the rubber stoppers are successively and continuously fitted on the respective wires. Also disclosed is an apparatus which may be suitably employed to carry out the above-described method. The apparatus includes an aligned stopper successively feeding section, a stopper transfer section, a rotary conveyor section, and a wire press-fitting section. The apparatus is further provided with an automatic control circuit adapted to allow the respective operations of the above-described secitons to be sequentially interlocked with each other.

Method of fitting rubber stoppers on wires

A method of fitting a rubber stopper for a water-proof connector terminal onto an end portion of an electric wire includes the steps of: successively feeding a group of rubber stoppers aligned in a row in a state wherein each of the rubber stoppers has its longitudinal axis extending vertically; transferring each of the rubber stoppers into a stopper housing portion; retaining the electric wire disposed on an imaginary line passing through the center of the stopper housing portion; and press-fitting the wire into the rubber stopper, whereby the rubber stoppers are successively and continuously fitted on the respective wires. Also disclosed is an apparatus which may be suitably employed to carry out the above-described method. The apparatus includes an aligned stopper successively feeding section, a stopper transfer section, a rotary conveyor section, and a wire press-fitting section. The apparatus is further provided with an automatic control circuit adapted to allow the respective operations of the above-described section to be sequentially interlocked with each other.

Apparatus for fitting terminals and rubber stoppers on wires

Disclosed is an apparatus for connecting at least one branch electric wire to an intermediate portion of a main electric wire. The apparatus has a stripping section in which the intermediate portion of the main wire is stripped to expose its conductor, a solderless connecting section in which the main and branch wires are connected in a solderless manner by means of a connecting piece, and a taping section in which the connected wires are coated with insulating tape. The stripping section, solderless connecting section and the taping section are assembled on a frame three dimensionally to realize a compact apparatus which can perform a through process including to steps of stripping, solderless connection and taping. The apparatus further has a rotatable and extendable/retractable transportation hand means adapted to automatically transport and deliver the wires from the stripping section to the solderless connecting section and from the solderless connecting section to the taping section.

Branch wire connecting apparatus

A stripping apparatus for stripping coated electric wires b has a pair of clamping plates movable into and out of contact with each other and provided with cutting edges formed at a constant pitch in their opposing contactable edges. The corresponding cutting edges in both clamping plates cooperate with each other in defining, when the clamping plates are held in contact with each other, cutting gaps of different sizes. The clamping plates are adapted to clamp and sever, at their cutting edges, the end portion of the coating d on the coated electric wire at least partially. Means are provided for causing a relative movement between the coated electric wire and the clamping plates thereby to remove the severed end portion of the coating from the core wire of the coated electric wire. The clamping plates are adapted to be moved also in the direction substantially perpendicular to the coated electric wire to bring to the cutting position one of the cutting gaps having the size corresponding to the diameter of the coated electric wire to be stripped. This stripping apparatus can cope with the demand for stripping of coated electric wires of various different diameters. A pair of resilient plates are attached to the rear surfaces of the clamping plates and overlie the cutting gaps for ejecting the severed end portions of the coating therefrom upon movement of the clamping plates away from each other from their cutting position.

Stripping device for stripping coated wire

Disclosed is a binding machine for binding a bundle of linear members such as electric wires. The binding machine has a drum-like rotary member mounted for rotation in one direction. The rotary member has a notch extending radially inwardly to the area around the center thereof such as to provide a substantially U-shaped work holding portion. The rotary member further has a tape guiding portion extending radially outwardly therefrom and provided with a pair of guide pins which are spaced in the radial direction of the rotary member. A cutting blade is disposed between two concentric circles along which the guide pins move when the rotary member rotates. The cutting blade is directed counter to the direction of rotation of the rotary member. A tape roll holding means is mounted on the frame and adapted for holding a tape roll such that the leading end of the tape extracted therefrom is lead to a position in front of the radial opening of the tape holding means. When the rotary member rotates with a work received in the work holding means and partially wound by the tape extracted from the tape roll, the tape is further extracted, cut and wound around the work thus accomplishing the building.

Binding machine

An apparatus for automatically crimping terminals to electric wires by a cooperation between a pressing punch driven through a press ram and a stationary anvil. The apparatus has a crimp height adjusting mechanism which includes a tapered spacer movable perpendicularly to the press ram, a stopper member having a complementary tapered surface and slidably placed on the tapered spacer so as to be able to move only vertically as the tapered spacer is moved. The stopper member has an upper surface adapted to be contacted by a portion of the press ram thereby determining the stroke end of the press ram. The tapered spacer is slidingly moved in a controlled manner by an electric motor, so that the heightwise position of the stopper member is changed to allow a delicate adjustment of the lower stroke end of the press ram. In consequence, the crimp height is automatically adjusted minutely in accordance with the diameter of the electric wire to be processed.

Terminal crimping apparatus

An improved apparatus for automatically producing cable with terminals crimped thereto is disclosed which includes a cable storing section, for storing various kinds of cables, a cable selecting section for selecting a required cable, a cable measuring and cutting section, a cable sheath stripping section for removing insulative sheath at the foremost end parts of the cable, a terminal crimping section having a plurality of terminal pressure connecting machines arranged in line along a conveyor, and a control circuit. The control circuit automatically controls selection of kinds of cables and terminals and their working conditions at every time when operations are achieved in each of the sections. The cable measuring and cutting section is provided with a direct measuring mechanism in which a distance of movement of the measuring head is measured while it is stretched under the effect of tension. The cable sheath stripping section is preferably provided with a stripping length adjusting mechanism which serves to adjustably determine the length of naked wire portion of the cable at the foremost end parts thereof with insulative sheath removed therefrom.
