In an image forming apparatus where an amount to be printed due to execution of a job designating printing according to a first printing mode exceeds a first printable amount, a screen is displayed to accept an instruction for changing printing according to the first printing mode designated by the job to printing according to a second printing mode. When the instruction is accepted on the screen, a print setting screen which is able to accept a change of print setting of the job is displayed. If an amount printed according to the second printing mode would exceed the second printable amount even if print setting of the job is changed, the print setting screen is repeatedly displayed until print setting of the job is set such that the amount to be printed on printing according to the second printing mode does not exceed the second printable amount.

The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for transforming a time waveform of an electromagnetic wave into a time waveform suited for signal processing and the like so as to measure the time waveform. A wavelet transform is performed on a first time waveform of an electromagnetic wave, such as a terahertz wave, measured in advance, and a second time waveform suited for signal processing and having a high correlation with a mother wavelet used in the wavelet transform is formed by controlling a wavelet expansion coefficient. In a second measurement process and onward of a target object, a transforming unit, such as a bias voltage controller, is used to transform the electromagnetic wave into a transformed time waveform so as to measure the time waveform.

Apparatus and method for measuring electromagnetic wave

A waveform acquiring unit acquires a time waveform of an electromagnetic wave. The time waveform is decomposed into wavelet expansion coefficients by wavelet transform. Influence levels of the respective wavelet expansion coefficients to a spectrum are calculated. The wavelet expansion coefficients are weighted based on at least the influence levels of the wavelet expansion coefficients to the spectrum. The weighted wavelet expansion coefficients are converted into time waveforms by inverse wavelet transform. Thus, the time waveforms that holds spectrum information needed for spectroscopic analysis and has a reduced noise is provided.

An inspection apparatus for inspecting a subject (sample) (for example, performing identification or imaging of the subject) using an expansion coefficient with a relatively small amount of data. The inspection apparatus includes a transforming unit that performs a wavelet transform on a terahertz time waveform obtained using a terahertz wave detected by a detecting unit. In addition, the inspection apparatus includes a selecting unit that selects, from a first expansion coefficient in the wavelet transform, a second expansion coefficient stored in advance and included in the first expansion coefficient. Furthermore, the inspection apparatus includes a comparing unit for comparing a first value of the second expansion coefficient with a second value of the second expansion coefficient selected by the selecting unit.

Provided are an image forming apparatus and an image forming method which are capable of obtaining an image of a measured object using a relatively simple structure in a short time.
