Reduction gear

Provided is a mechanical lash adjuster including a plunger, a housing put into thread engagement with the plunger in an axial direction to form a thread engagement portion, the plunger engaging member fixed and retained in a circumferential direction of the thread engagement portion, and a coil spring urging the plunger in a direction opposite to a urging-force acting direction of a coil spring. A lead and flank angles of threads forming the thread engagement portion are set such that when an axial load acts on the plunger in either of a plunger extension and contraction directions, the plunger is made self-sustaining, and when the plunger swings by an amount corresponding to a backlash due to a lateral load, the plunger slides and rotates at the thread engagement portion to move in an axial-load acting direction.

Mechanical lash adjuster

A hollow low-current single-phase induction motor capable of starting under its own power may have a stator and a rotor. The stator may comprise a case and a winding. The case may have a base, an annular outer circumferential wall, an annular inner circumferential wall, a plurality of first extensions formed at the outer circumferential wall, and a plurality of second extensions formed at the inner circumferential wall so as to respectively face the first extensions. The rotor may have a flange, a plurality of coil supports formed along the outside circumference of the flange, and a plurality of annular rotor coils which are attached to the respective coil supports. The coil supports may be inserted between the first extensions and the second extensions such that at least one thereamong is misaligned in the circumferential direction relative to the first extensions and the second extensions.

Hollow single-phase induction motor

An acting force transmission device for use with a valve mechanism of an engine includes an acting force transmission member that transmits an acting force to a valve to open/close the valve. A support shaft is provided in the acting force transmission member. An annular roller is directly mounted on an outer periphery of the support shaft. The roller is adapted to rotate when subjected to a cam force exerted by a cam and is adapted to transmit the cam force to the acting force transmission member as the acting force. A ratio d/D of an inner diameter d to an outer diameter D of the annular roller is not less than 0.7.

Acting force transmission device for use with valve mechanism and method of manufacturing the same

The torque transmission device includes side gears having a same axis of rotation coupled to rear wheels, a case disposed around the outer circumferential side of the side gears, and rotating around the axis of the side gears, and a pinion gear rotatably supported by the case and engaged with the side gears in a straddling manner. The side gears are spur gears having a different number of teeth, and the pinion gear is a spur gear driven by a motor and having an axis of rotation that is parallel to the axis of rotation of the side gears. Forming the side gears and pinion gear from spur gears advantageously allows the side gears to be compactly arranged along their axis of rotation.

Torque transmission device

A method of machining a screw is provided that is capable of preventing formation of a protruding section at a thread tip section. A thread is formed by cutting on a cylindrical body, and a surface of the thread is plastically deformed by rolling. Because of the cutting, a width between-side surfaces of a thread tip section is in a narrowed state as compared to a normal width. This width is narrowed toward a tip of the thread while a thread body section has a width expanded as compared to a normal width. Consequently, the side surfaces are formed to bulge by an excess thickness portion as compared to normal side surfaces. The rolling plastically deforms both side surfaces to cause the excess thickness portion to plastically flow toward the side surfaces.

Method of machining screw

This invention provides an improved variable cam phaser for an automobile engine equipped with a controller capable of enabling execution of a given phase angle varying command in a shortened response time. The variable cam phaser has two control rotors which are arranged coaxial with a camshaft and rotatable relative to each other under the influence of two electromagnetic actuators and driven by the crankshaft of the engine. The variable cam phaser also has a relative phase angle varying mechanism for varying the relative phase angle of the camshaft relative to the crankshaft. When the two electromagnetic actuators are simultaneously energized, the two control rotors are held mutually unrotatable. However, when the braking torque of one actuator is reduced, the control rotor associated with that actuator is rotated relative to the other control rotor to immediately start the execution of the command.

Variable cam phaser for automobile engine and controller therefor

The mechanical lash adjuster is arranged between a cam and one end of the stem of a valve urged by a valve spring. The lash adjuster comprises an unrotatable housing having a thread, a plunger subjected to the force of the cam and formed with a thread in engagement with the thread of the housing, and a plunger spring urging the plunger against the action of the valve spring. The lead and flank angles of the engaging threads are set such that the engagement threads can slidably rotate under a given shaft load applied to the plunger unless the frictional torque TB, generated by the friction between the slidable frictional surface Fof the plunger and a shaft load transmission member to act on the plunger, exceeds the thrust torque TF imparted by the shaft load to the plunger.

A phase varying apparatus capable of smoothly varying the phase angle of a camshaft relative to a drive rotor by comprising: a drive rotor supported by a camshaft and driven by a crankshaft; a first control rotor integral with the camshaft; a first torquing mechanism for providing the first drive rotor with a torque in one direction, and a reverse rotation mechanism for proving the first control rotor with a torque in the opposite direction, wherein the reverse rotation mechanism comprises a first radius-decreasing guide groove formed in the control rotor, a crank member adapted to rotate about a position offset from the rotational axis of the drive rotor, and a first pin mechanism mounted on the crank member and movable in the radius-decreasing guide groove, and a second operative mechanism for rotating the first control rotor in the opposite rotational direction relative to the drive rotor.

A compact planetary gear reduction mechanism having a universal gear reduction ratio is provided, which comprises: an input shaft rotatable about a first rotational axis; at least one planetary gear having a first and a second gear of the same shape integrated together rotatably about a third rotational axis (O) but in out of phase with each other; an eccentric rotary plate for transmitting the rotational motion of the input shaft to a shaft mechanism which in turn transmits the eccentric rotation of the eccentric rotary plate to the planetary gear; an external fixed sun gear meshed with the first gear of the planetary gear; and an external driven sun gear to be connected to the output shaft of the gear reducer, having a different number of gear teeth than the fixed sun gear and meshed with the second gear of the planetary gear.

Cam shaft phase variable device in engine for automobile

To provide a simpler, axially shorter, and easy-to-manufacture phase varying apparatus for an automobile engine, utilizes a four-link mechanism consisting of multiple circular members. MEANS FOR ACHIEVING THE OBJECT An inventive phase varying apparatus has: a camshaft; drive rotor driven by the crankshaft; a first and a second torque means for rotating a first and a second control rotors, all aligned coaxially and rotatable relative to each other; and a phase angle varying mechanism operably coupled to the first and second torque means, so as to varying the relative phase angle between the camshaft and the crankshaft. The phase angle varying mechanism comprises: a circular eccentric cam integral with the camshaft; a first and a second link each having a shape of a substantially cylindrical form; and a quasi-radial guide mechanism and displacement forcing means collaborating with each other for displacing either one of the first and second links in a quasi-radial direction of the rotor.

[Problems] To provide a variable phase controller for an engine which assures easy manufacturing at low cost, reduces operating sound, and includes a relative rotational motion mechanism enabling quick change of a phase angle between a cam shaft and a crank shaft. [Means for Solving Problems] A variable phase controller for an engine controls the rotational motion of a first control rotor for changing the relative phase angle between a crank shaft and a cam shaft to either a phase-lead angle side or a phase-lag angle side in accordance with the direction of such control. The variable phase controller has a first braking means for rotating the first control rotor to one side, and a second braking means for braking a second control rotor and rotating the first control rotor in the direction opposite to the rotation caused by the first braking means via a second intermediate rotor (or cam guide plate) displaced by the force applied by a movable element (or rotating eccentric circular cam) displaced in guide grooves by braking of the second control rotor, thereby controlling the rotational motion of the first control rotor.
