A novel fluoran compound represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## is disclosed. By using the novel fluoran compound (I) as a chromogenic substance, a pressure-sensitive record material is provided which can develop an image of a clear vermilion color when it contacts a developer of an acidic substance.

Heat sensitive recording sheet

This invention relates to a xanthene derivative that develops color on oxidation, so that it is favorably used for a photoresist, a PS plate or a proofing agent. The xanthene derivative, which has the following structural formula (I), is produced by putting a fluoran derivative represented by the following structural formula (II) to an esterification reaction and then to a reduction reaction. ##STR1## In the above formulae R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently stand for hydrogen, an alkyl radical with 1 to 8 carbon atoms, a tetrahydrofurfuryl radical, a substitued or an unsubstituted phenyl radical, a substituted or an unsubstituted benzyl radical or a cyclic alkyl radical; in addition, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are able to form a ring in pairs. R.sub.3 and R.sub.6 independently stand for hydrogen, chlorine, fluorine, a lower alkyl radical or a lower alkoxy radical. R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 independently stand for hydrogen, chlorine, fluorine, a lower alkyl radical, a lower alkoxy radical, a lower alkoxyalkyl radical, a substituted or an unsubstituted phenyl radical, a substituted or an unsubstituted benzyl radical, an amino radical, a N-substituted or N,N-substituted amino radical or a cyclic alkyl radical; in addition, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are able to form a ring in pairs respectively. A heat sensitive record material comprising a support sheet and a heat sensitive record layer formed on the support sheet, the heat sensitive record layer being composed essentially of a colorless or light-colored electron-donating colorless dye, an acidic substance which is thermally reactive with the electron-donating colorless dye to develop a color and a binder, characterized in that said heat sensitive record layer contains an effective amount of at least one anilide compound represented by the general formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl group; R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a sulfamoyl group or a halogen atom; R.sub.3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a halogen atom; and n is an integer of 0 to 5.

A heat sensitive record material comprising a support sheet and a record layer formed on the support sheet, the record layer being composed essentially of a colorless or light-colored fluoran compound, an acidic substance which is thermally reactive with the fluoran compound to develop a color and a binder, characterized in that said record layer contains an effective amount of at least one benzenesulfonamide compound represented by the general formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl group, an acetylamino group or a halogen atom, R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl group, a cyclohexyl group or a phenyl group which may be substituted and R.sub.3 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl group, a cyclohexyl group or a phenyl group which may be substituted, provided R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may form together with N a saturated ring.

Disclosed is a light transmitting particle containing a sublimable color-former that is a pyridine derivative suitable for use in the formation of a color image. This particle can produce a clear color image having little fogging and having an excellent resolving power.
