Providing a metal mold repair method and a metal mold repair paste agent which are capable of repairing cracks with simple work. A repair paste agent containing components that become an alloy is directly applied to a surface of a metal mold having a crack so as to cover the crack part, subsequently a surface of the repair paste agent is coated with an oxidation inhibitor and the repair paste agent is made to penetrate the inside of the crack by heating and becomes an alloy, thereby filling up the crack.

Metal mold repair method and metal mold repair paste agent

A metal material comprises a Zn&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Sn based alloy (ZAS alloy) and Cu diffused in the alloy, wherein Cu is diffused into the inside of the alloy to a depth from the surface of 0.5 mm or more, the concentration of Cu decreases from the surface of the ZAS alloy towards the inside thereof, and there is present no specific interface between Cu and the ZAS alloy; and a method for producing the metal material involves applying, to the surface of the ZAS alloy, an agent comprising a solvent and, dispersed therein, a material containing Cu such as a Cu powder and a Cu&#x2014;Mn alloy powder and preferably, dispersed or dissolved therein, a reducing agent capable of reducing an oxide film present on the surface of the ZAS alloy, and heating the ZAS alloy having the agent applied thereon, to thereby diffuse Cu into the alloy.

Metal material and method for production thereof

A method of the surface treatment of a mold for casting, which comprises subjecting a cavity surface of a fixed mold made by the use of a SCM420 material to first shot peening, a sulfurizing-nitriding treatment and second shot peening. The resulting cavity surface of the fixed mold exhibits a high hardness of 700 or higher in terms of Vickers hardness due to the presence of a sulfurized and nitrided layer, and further has a compression residual stress of more than 1200 Mpa and a largest height, which is a surface roughness value defined by JIS standard, of 8 &#x3bc;m or less.

Mold for casting and method of surface treatment thereof

A mold for casting primarily of SMC420, wherein a cavity forming portion comprising maraging steel, which has the toughness and the resistance to heat shock superior to those of SMC420, is provided in a vertical wall heading for a cavity surface from a molten metal inlet and a portion nearest to the molten metal inlet in the cavity surface, which are portions suffering relatively large heat shock in the contact with a molten metal. Also provided is a method for providing the cavity forming portion, which comprises filling a concave portion of the mold with a molten metal prepared by melting a welding rod by arc welding, in other words, carrying out an overlaying welding, and then cooling and solidifying the molten metal.
