A system and method for enabling high power user equipment (HPUE) capabilities in a wireless communication device. A system includes a cellular module configured to output a transmit signal at a standard power level, and a variable gain amplifier stage coupled to an antenna output of the cellular module, the variable gain amplifier stage configured to amplify the transmit signal. The system further includes a gain control system coupled to the variable gain amplifier stage, the gain control system configured to adjust a gain of the variable gain amplifier stage based on an input power of the transmit signal, wherein the gain is adjusted at a rate slower than a power control loop between the cellular module and a base station. The system further includes an antenna coupled to an output of the variable gain amplifier stage, the antenna configured to transmit the amplified transmit signal.

System to enable high power user equipment capabilities

A repeater, and method of operating the same, for receiving and boosting signals from a plurality of mobile network operators. The repeater includes a donor antenna for receiving a composite signal that comprises separate signals from two or more of the plurality of mobile network operators, each of the separate signals having an amplitude. The repeater further includes an amplitude equalizer configured to equalize the amplitude of each of the separate signals of the composite signal, and an amplifier configured to boost the composite signal. The repeater further includes a server antenna for transmitting the boosted composite signal with the equalized separate signals.

System and method for equalizing output power of a repeater

A system and method for determining a position of a first responder in a building, where the first responder is using a radio, and using a distributed antenna system. Each antenna has a level detector to detect and measure a strength of an input signal from the radio of the first responder to produce a level signal, a time tagger to tag the detected input signal with a timing signal, and a communication module to transmit the level signal and timing signal. A sensor processor connected with a signal distribution network is configured to receive the signal level and timing signal from the signal distribution network of each of the plurality of antennas, to determine the position of the radio relative to each of the plurality of antennas according to the level signal and timing signal.

In-building tracking system for distributed antenna systems

A system for communicating between a building and a first responder is disclosed. The system includes a plurality of sensors, each configured to sense an aspect or condition of an environment of the building, and to transmit a sense signal representing the sensed aspect or condition. The system also includes one or more repeaters, configured to receive the sense signals from the sensors and to transmit repeated sense signals representing the sensed aspects or conditions. The system also includes a processor, configured to receive the repeated sense signals and to transmit an output signal based at least in part on one or more of the repeated sense signals, and one or more output devices configured to receive the output signal and to communicate information associated with the sensed aspect or condition based on the output signal.

Sensing and communicating situational awareness data with distributed antenna systems

Systems and methods for providing situational awareness of a building to first responders are described. The system includes a server that receives and stores building information, such as a floor plan and other information. The system further includes one or more environmental sensors that sense environmental conditions within the building and uploads that information to the server. A building identification affixed to the building allows a first responder to access the building information and situational awareness information at any time, such as during a situation or an incident, such as an emergency.

Systems and methods for providing environmental data to first responders

A system and method for communicating and sensing for distributed antennas associated with a building. Each of a number of antennas distributed geographically within the building include one or more sensors, each of the one or more sensors being configured to sense an environmental condition associated with the building and generate sensor data. A sensor processor is configured to receive the sensor data and generate a digital map view of a portion of the building based on locations of the plurality of antennas, the map view including a digital representation of the sensor data.

Integrated system for communication and sensing for distributed antenna systems

A system and method for minimizing interference between communication systems in an area. A system includes a repeater that is positioned within the area. The repeater includes a donor antenna communicating between the repeater and a wireless base station, a server antenna communicating between the repeater and a user device, a downlink transmission path to boost and repeat signals received by the donor antenna to the server antenna, and an uplink transmission path to boost and repeat signals received by the server antenna to the donor antenna. The system includes an emissions control system having control inputs that are processed to control a total output power level in a passband of the signal transmissions on the uplink transmission path by the repeater, and/or emissions outside the passband of the signal transmissions on the uplink transmission path by the repeater, based on the one or more processed control inputs.

Selecting relay frequencies in a mobile repeater

In an aspect, a subscriber identity module (SIM) card can be designated with an access class designation indicating that a first user equipment is barred from camping on or reselecting to a small cell. The small cell can be configured to transmit information to at least one second user equipment in communication with the small cell that the first user equipment incorporating the SIM card with the access class designation is barred from camping on or reselecting to the small cell. The configured small cell can transmit the information to the at least one second user equipment.
