Occupancy sensor calibration and occupancy estimation

The present invention relates to a method for controlling a lighting device in a daylight harvesting system. When a user tampers with a sensor, in order to decrease the light level light level measured and therefore increase the light intensity of the lighting device, the tampering is detected. Based on this tamper detection the light intensity of the lighting device is controlled based on a set value (e.g. 70% dimming).

Anti-tampering daylight harvesting system

A controller comprising: presence detection logic, calibration logic, and an input for receiving a reading from a light sensor representing a sensed light level. The presence detection logic is for detecting presence events based on a presence sensor, and is configured to indicate a set-point to operate at least one lighting device in dependence on a positive detection of presence. The calibration logic is for performing a calibration operation, which is performed by causing a light output of the lighting device to change between a first, lower level and a second, higher level, and by and calibrating the set-point based on the reading from the light sensor under influence of the first and second levels. The calibration logic is configured to trigger this calibration operation in response to the positive detection of presence.

A color image enhancement method, for enhancing the color of a color image comprising a plurality of pixels. The method comprises: mapping a color saturation value of each pixel to a normalized saturation value, wherein the range of values of normalized saturation is the same independent of the luminance value of the pixel; estimating a probability distribution of the normalized saturation values; defining a transfer function for modifying the normalized saturation values, based on the estimated probability distribution; and applying the transfer function to the normalized saturation values to generate modified values.

Colour image enhancement

A video signal processing apparatus for processing a video signal comprises a receive unit () which receives the video signal comprising a sequence of pictures. A processing unit () applies a picture noise changing algorithm to the sequence of pictures and a variation unit () varies a spatial noise reduction setting for the picture noise changing algorithm between at least some consecutive pictures of the sequence of pictures in response to a predetermined variation rule. Specifically a set of picture manipulation processes () with different spatial noise reduction characteristics may be provided and the variation unit () may select different picture manipulation processes in consecutive pictures. The approach may introduce high frequency noise flickering which is less perceptible to a viewer thereby reducing the perceived noise. The invention may in particular be applied to upconverted high picture rate video signals for hold type displays, such as Liquid Crystal Displays displays.

Video signal processing

A device and method for rendering content that includes analyzing previous and/or subsequent temporal portions of a content signal to determine elements that are positionally related to elements of a current portion of the content signal. The current portion of the content signal is rendered on a primary rendering device, such as a television, while the elements that are positionally related to elements of a current portion of the content signal are concurrently rendered on a secondary rendering device. In one embodiment, the elements that are rendered on the secondary rendering device may be rendered at a lower resolution and/or lower frame rate than the rendered current portion of the content signal. In one embodiment, at least one of previous and subsequent temporal portions of a content signal may be analyzed at a lower resolution than the content signal.

Adaptive content rendering based on additional frames of content

The novel method of electronic color image processing comprises: inputting an image; obtaining a color (A) based on colors present in at least a first part of the image; and changing a saturation correlate (S) defined with respect to the color (A) for at least a second part of the image. This allows for better quality saturation modification on a larger number of possible input images.

Method of electronic color image saturation processing

An apparatus and method for primary color correction and clipping is provided that is particularly suited for application in mobile displays. It is a combination of a brightness reduction, and a 'smart' clipping algorithm and is based on the perceptual attribute 'colorfulness', in which images that are brighter seem to posses more color. In the smart clipping algorithm, a brightness reduction is followed by a gamut (primary) correction and then a smart clip is performed by 'adding white' to the out-of-gamut pixels only. This reduces the saturation while it increases the brightness. That is, the saturation is decreased in favor of increased brightness, which gives similar colorfulness on a mobile display as on an EBU display. This smart clipping affects those colors that cannot be represented on the display.

An apparatus for enhancing at least a region of an input picture having input pixel values enabling a reduction of quantization banding artifacts including an estimation unit arranged to estimate a quantization precision of at least the region of the input picture, a pattern analysis unit arranged to determine positions in the input picture of changes in input pixel value of less than or equal to the quantization precision, and to output analysis information representing the positions, and an adaptive filter, arranged to calculate an output picture corresponding to at least the region of the input picture, comprising output pixels being determined on the basis of adaptive combinations of input pixels, and arranged to determine the adaptive combinations in dependence on the analysis information.

Picture enhancement by utilizing quantization precision of regions

A method converts an input image signal (IS) into a drive signal (DS) for driving sub-pixels (SP) of a display device (DD) comprising display pixels (DPI) having at least two sub-pixel groups (SG, SG) being able to contribute to luminance information displayed. The conversion comprises a multi-primary conversion (MPC) which receives the input image signal (IS) and which is performed under a constraint (CO). The constraint (CO) is determined (CD) by substantially matching local display luminances (DL, DL; DLD) associated with the at least two sub-pixel groups (SG, SG) with corresponding local input luminances (L, L; LD) of input pixels (IP) of the input image signal (IS), thereby obtaining a display luminance pattern defined by the display pixels (DPI) corresponding to an input luminance pattern defined by the input pixels (IP) associated with the display pixels (DPI).

Multi-primary conversion

A method of processing image data comprises receiving input signals for specifying red, green and blue colors of the pixels of a display, performing a per-pixel low pass filtering of the input signals, the low pass filtering function being dependent on the chrominance variation between adjacent pixels, and providing the filtered output signals for use in driving the pixels of a display. This method essentially measures the chrominance variation of the incoming signal, in the form of the color change frequency, and depending on this variation, adaptively low-pass filters the incoming signal. This can be in such a way that the chrominance resolution of the outgoing signal is below the maximum chrominance resolution of the intended display, without errors in the average color of a small group of pixels.

Redistribution of N-primary color input signals into N-primary color output signals
