A wireless transmit-receive unit (WTRU) may be provided. The WTRU may be configured to receive a first message from a first relay WTRU. The first message may indicate a service provided by a second WTRU and a first measurement associated with a broadcast message. The WTRU may be configured to determine a second measurement. The second measurement may be associated with the first message received from the first relay WTRU. The WTRU may be configured to send a second message to the first relay WTRU if the first measurement satisfies a first criteria for selecting a relay from a plurality of relays and the second measurement satisfies a second criteria for selecting the relay from the plurality of relays. The second message may comprise an indication to establish communication between the first WTRU and the second WTRU via the first relay WTRU.

Relay discovery and selection

Systems, methods, and devices for unicast and/or multicast link establishment and maintenance. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may send a link establishment request broadcast message, wherein in the link may be for multicast, unicast, or groupcast. The WTRU may receive a link establishment response broadcast message and a connectivity report. The WTRU may then send a link establishment confirmation broadcast message once a multicast or unicast link has been established, at which point the WTRU may send and receive a multicast message. The link establishment request message may be sent based on one or more triggers: receiving a QoS flow, needing a new sidelink radio bearer, determining that a new QoS flow or radio bearer requires network controlled admission control, and/or receive a unicast and/or multicast establishment request. The WTRU may transmit a unicast and/or multicast usability signal (UMUS). The WTRU may preempt the established multicast or unicast link.

L2 procedures for unicast and/or multicast link establishment and maintenance

Method, apparatus and systems are disclosed that may be implemented in a Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit (WTRU) for unicast communication with another WTRU. The method may include sending, by the WTRU to the other WTRU via a PC5 interface, a communication request indicating first security information for the WTRU and receiving, by the WTRU from the other WTRU via the PC5 interface, information which is integrity protected indicating second security information for the other WTRU. The method may also include deriving, by the WTRU from the indicated second security information, a first set of security keys for communication via a first layer using the U-plane and a second set of security keys for communication via a second layer using the C-plane; and sending, by the WTRU to the other WTRU via the PC5 interface, a message that is at least integrity protected using the derived first set of keys.

Methods, apparatus and systems for secured radio resource control (RRC) signaling over a PC5 interface for unicast communication

A relay node may detect conflicts regarding media access control (MAC) addresses. The relay node may receive a request to establish a links with a source node and a target node. The relay node may receive the MAC addresses of the source node and the target node. The relay node may detect a conflict associated with the MAC addresses of the source node and the target node. The relay node may release the link with the target node.

Wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to WTRU relay media access control (MAC) access conflict support

A client application running on a WTRU is configured to communicate data traffic over a TCP session with an MPTCP stack running on the WTRU. The data traffic is exchanged with a server application over a first MPTCP sub-flow with a first mobile edge (ME) host device. The WTRU is anchored to a second ME anchor node. The WTRU receives a first message from a second ME host device indicating that the WTRU should join a second MPTCP sub-flow with the second ME host device. The WTRU joins the second MPTCP sub-flow, responsive to the first message, wherein the second sub-flow is configured not to exchange data traffic. The WTRU receives a second message from the second ME host device configuring the second MPTCP sub-flow to exchange data traffic. The WTRU exchanges the data traffic with the server application over the second MPTCP sub-flow with the second ME host device.

Application mobility based on enhanced MPTCP

Methods, apparatus, systems, architectures and interfaces, performed by a relay wireless transmit/receive unit (R-WTRU) including a transmitter, a receiver, a memory, and a processor, for establishing extended unicast links and management unicast links are provided. The method includes: performing, by the R-WTRU, a link establishment procedure for establishing any number of extended unicast links for relaying traffic between a service-provider WTRU (SP-WTRU) and any number of service-user WTRUs (SU-WTRUs) according to a mapping generated by the R-WTRU, the link establishment procedure including: (1) generating a mapping of any of the extended links and layer 2 (L2) identifiers (IDs) for any of a SP-WTRU, a R-WTRU, and any number of SU-WTRUs, and (2) transmitting a unique relay ID; establishing a management unicast link for the extended unicast links; and applying any number of link management requests received via the management unicast link to associated extended unicast links.

Methods and apparatus for direct discovery and communication using a WTRU to WTRU relay

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities associated with providing and/or receiving a multicast-broadcast service (MBS) in a wireless communication system are described herein. A network relay may be used to facilitate the provision of the MBS to a remote wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The network relay may request network authorization to join the MBS on behalf of the remote WTRU. The network relay may include an identifier of the remote WTRU and information regarding the multicast group that the remote WTRU desires to join in the authorization request. The network relay may inform the remote WTRU about an authorization response received from the network, and may forward MBS traffic to the remote WTRU if authorization is granted. The network relay may broadcast an MBS relay support indication to one or more remote WTRUs. The network relay may receive a group paging monitor request from a remote WTRU and may monitor group paging messages for the remote WTRU in response.

Multicast-broadcast services support for network relay

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are provided for vehicle to everything (V2X) service oriented link establishment. A first wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may broadcast a direct communication request message. The direct communication request message may include a first security context identifier (ID). The first WTRU may receive a direct security mode command message from a second WTRU. The direct security mode command message may include a second security context ID. The first WTRU may determine a third security context ID by combining the first security context ID and the second security context ID. The first WTRU may establish, using the third security context ID, a secure direct communication link with the second WTRU. The first WTRU may generate, based on the third security context ID, a security context entry for the secure direct communication link with the second WTRU.

Procedures enabling V2X unicast communication over PC5 interface

Methods and apparatuses directed to non-access stratum procedures in connection with layer 2 relaying are provided. A method implemented in a first WTRU, may comprise: receiving, from a second WTRU, a first sidelink transmission comprising a first information indicating an amount of time for the first WTRU to refrain from transmitting, to the second WTRU; determining to reselect to a third WTRU responsive to receiving the first information and based on a second sidelink transmission from the third WTRU; reselecting or autonomous reselecting to the third WTRU; establishing a connection with the third WTRU; and transmitting, to the third WTRU, a third sidelink transmission comprising a second information indicating congestion as a cause for the reselection.

Methods and apparatuses directed to non-access stratum procedures in connection with layer 2 relaying

Systems and methods are described herein for handling connection rejects via a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)-to-WTRU (U2U) relay associated with backoff times on behalf of a source end WTRU. A relay WTRU may retry to establish connection with a target WTRU on behalf of a source WTRU, for example, based on receiving a rejection (e.g., with a backoff value) from the target WTRU. The source WTRU may associate the reject message to the target WTRU, and the relay WTRU may be available to reach other target WTRUs. The relay WTRU may send a reject message to other source WTRUs (e.g., if the back off duration is active, running) for the same target WTRU.

Handling connection rejections via U2U relay associated with backoff times on behalf of a source end WTRU

Systems, methods and instrumentalities are described herein that provide security and/or privacy support for wireless transmit receive units (WTRUs) communicating via a WTRU to WTRU relay. A source WTRU may obtain a new IP address from a relay WTRU via a link identifier update request. The source WTRU may indicate to the relay WTRU which one or more target WTRUs are to be informed of the new IP address. The source WTRU may indicate to the relay WTRU whether the target WTRU's ID(s) should be changed. The relay WTRU may send the source WTRU's new IP address to authorized target WTRUs. The source, relay, and target WTRU may use tokens to grant or receive authorizations for sharing each other's IP addresses.

Security and privacy support for direct wireless communications

Method, apparatus and systems are disclosed that may be implemented in wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and/or a UAV-controller (UAV-C). In one representative method, the UAV may switch from a first Command and Control (C2) communication link between a UAV and a first UAV-C to a second C2 communication link for C2 communications. The method may include determining, by the WTRU, to switch C2 communications from the first C2 communication link to the second C2 communication link based on a C2 switching condition; sending, by the WTRU to a C2 control entity, a notification indicating link information used to determine switching from the first C2 communication link to the second C2 communication link; receiving, by the WTRU from the C2 control entity, information indicating a switch; and switching, by the WTRU, C2 communications from the first C2 communication link to the second C2 communication link.

Methods, apparatus and systems for command and control (C2) communications setup and update

Methods, apparatus, and systems for a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) performing relay communications are provided. A method may include receiving a first message indicating: (1) a first security policy associated with a first data link, and (2) a maximum data rate for integrity protection (MDRIP) supported by the remote WTRU; transmitting, to a network, a second message indicating: (1) an MDRIP supported by the remote WTRU or by the relay WTRU, and (2) a request for PDU session establishment; receiving, from the network, a third message indicating a second security policy for a second data link; and establishing the first data link with the remote WTRU on the condition that an end-to-end (e2e) security policy is compatible with the second security policy, wherein the e2e security policy is determined according to the second security policy and a UP security policy of the relay WTRU.

Methods, apparatus, and systems for communications security with proximity services relay WTRU

A relay node may detect conflicts regarding media access control (MAC) addresses. A target node may receive a request from the relay node. The request may comprise a request to establish communications with the target node. The target node may send, to the relay node, an indication of the MAC address of the target node. The target may receive a link release message from the relay node. The link release message may comprise an indication of conflict associated with the MAC address of the target node.

Methods and apparatuses are described herein for proximity-based services (ProSe) service-based discovery. For example, a service utilizing-wireless transmit/receive unit (SU-WTRU) may be provisioned with a type of discovery on a per-service basis and a security credential on a per-service basis. The SU-WTRU may transmit () a PC5 discovery message with the type of discovery and a first security element that is generated based on the security credential. The WTRU may then receive (), from a service providing-wireless transmit/receive unit (SP-WTRU), a PC5 discovery response message that includes a second security element and a service identity associated with a service that the SP-WTRU provides. On a condition that the second security element is verified based on the provisioned security credential, the SU-WTRU may authorize () the SP-WTRU to establish a PC5 communication link with the SP-WTRU.
