The present invention relates to a silicone acrylamide copolymer of high acrylamide monomer content which has transparency and low modulus, employing the following configuration. The copolymer is suitably used for various kinds of medical devices, particularly ophthalmic lenses such as a contact lens, an intraocular lens, an artificial cornea, and is especially suitable for a contact lens. A copolymer comprising (A) a multi-functional (meth)acrylamide monomer having at least one siloxane bond and at least two (meth)acrylamide groups within a molecule and (B) a mono-functional linear silicone (meth)acrylamide monomer.

The present invention relates to a polymers and hydrogels comprising a sulfonic acid component formed from reactive components comprising (i) at least one hydrophobic monomer and (ii) at least one sulfonic acid-containing component, wherein the sulfonic acid-containing component is comprised of a salt formed by a non-polymerizable, hydrophilic base and a polymerizable sulfonic acid. One or more embodiments provide that the at least one hydrophobic monomer comprises a silicone component.

The surface has a topography comprising a pattern defined by a plurality of spaced apart features attached to or projected into the base article. The present invention provides transparent silicone hydrogels with high acrylamide monomer content and an excellent balance between moisture content. The silicone hydrogels may be obtained by polymerizing a monomer mix containing a plurality of monomers, wherein the monomer mix comprises about 30 to about 98% by weight of at least one type of silicone monomer which is, and about 1 to about 50% by weight of at least one type of non-silicone type (meth)acrylamide monomer containing two or more hydroxyl groups within a molecule; wherein the weight percents are based upon the total amount of monomer components and polymer components in the monomer mix.
