A fuel pump for a direct injection system having: a pumping chamber; a piston, which is mounted in a sliding manner on the inside of the pumping chamber; an intake channel, which originates from a wall of the pumping chamber and has a housing portion; an intake valve, which is inserted into the housing portion of the intake channel; and a locking ring nut with an annular shape, which is threaded and is screwed into the housing portion of the intake channel so as to strike against the intake valve; the housing portion has an annular abutment, which reduces the diameter of the housing portion and against which the intake valve strikes; the locking ring nut is screwed into the housing portion with a tightening force that is sufficient to determine a plastic deformation of the annular abutment against the intake valve.

Fuel pump for a direct injection system with a better hydraulic sealing of the intake valve

Fuel pump for a direct injection system provided with a common rail. The fuel pump has a pumping chamber defined in a main body; a piston which is mounted in a sliding manner inside the pumping chamber to cyclically vary the volume of the pumping chamber; an intake channel which originates from a wall of the pumping chamber; an intake valve which is coupled to the intake channel; a delivery channel which originates from a wall of the pumping chamber; a delivery valve which is coupled to the delivery channel; and an actuating spring which has a plurality of turns having a pitch that varies between the turns and that is coupled to the piston so as to push the piston towards a maximum volume or minimum volume position of the pumping chamber.

Fuel pump for a direct injection system

A fuel pump for a direct injection system provided with a common rail; the fuel pump has: at least one pumping chamber defined in a main body; a piston whichis mounted sliding inside the pumping chamber; a suction channel connected to the pumping chamber and regulated by a suction valve; a delivery channel connected to the pumping chamber and regulated by a delivery valve; and a high pressure connection, which is welded by a ring weldto a wall of the main body at the delivery channel, has the function of allowing a connection to a supply duct that feeds the fuel under pressure to the common rail, and has internally a passing through channel through which the fuel coming from the delivery channel flowstowards the supply duct.

A fuel injector provided with: an injection valve comprising an injection nozzle; a mobile needle for regulating the fuel flow through the injection valve and ending with a shutting head, which engages a valve seat of the injection valve, is arranged externally with respect to injection valve and presents a predetermined sealing diameter; an actuator for displacing the needle between a closing position and an opening position of the injection valve; a closing spring which tends to maintain the needle in the closing position of the injection valve pushing the shutting head against the valve seat itself in a sense contrary to the feeding sense of the fuel; and a supporting body having a tubular shape and presenting a feeding channel within which a needle is arranged; the needle, at an opposite end of the shutting head, is coupled to a balancing channel, which is at ambient pressure.

An embodiment of a direct injection assembly of the common-rail type provided with a fuel tank, a manifold, a high-pressure pump for feeding the fuel to the manifold, a low-pressure pump provided with an intake pipe and connected to the high-pressure pump by means of the intake pipe to feed the fuel taken from the tank to the high-pressure pump; and a shut-off valve of the ON/OFF type which is arranged along the intake pipe to adjust the delivery of the fuel fed to the high-pressure pump; and a pressure regulator, which is arranged along the intake pipe immediately upstream of the shut-off valve to keep the pressure of the fuel inside the intake pipe under a predetermined value.

A fuel injector comprising: an injection valve provided with a mobile needle to regulate the fuel flow; an actuator adapted to shift the needle; an injection nozzle; a supporting body having a tubular shape and displaying a feeding channel; a sealing body provided with a valve seat of injection valve and comprising a disc-shaped capping element, which lowerly and fluid-tightly closes the feeding channel and is crossed by the injection nozzle, and a guiding element, which rises from the capping element, has a tubular shape, and accommodates the needle therein; an external fuel guiding channel defined between the feeding channel and the guiding element; a number of through feeding holes obtained in the lower part of the guiding element and leading towards valve seat; and a shutter head having an essentially spherical adjustment zone, which is integral with the needle, externally engages the guiding element.

A fuel injector provided with an injection valve comprising a mobile plunger; an injection jet having a plurality of first through-holes made starting from a chamber arranged downstream from the injection valve; a supporting body having a tubular shape and comprising a supply channel; and a sealing body, in which a valve seat of the injection valve is defined and the injection jet is provided; the sealing body is monolithic and has a disc-shaped plug member passed through by the injection jet, and a guide member, which rises up from the plug member, is tubular in shape, receives within it the plunger and has an external diameter smaller than the internal diameter of the supply channel, so as to define an external annular channel for the fuel; in the lower part of the guide member there are provided a number of second through-holes which open into the valve seat.

A method for controlling a fuel injector provided with an electrically operated electomagnetic actuator in such a manner as to open the injector for a determined injection time; the method providing that the injector be operated with a first current waveform if the injection time is greater than a predetermined threshold value, and that the injector be operated with a second current waveform if the injection time is less than the predetermined threshold value; both the current waveforms have an identical initial portion, during which the current passing through the injector is caused to rise until it reaches a peak value, which is maintained by cyclic switching of the voltage applied to the injector between two different values.
