Methods and devices determine the media properties of a sheet of media exiting a printing device. The methods and devices apply the media properties to a predetermined velocity equation to calculate a corresponding sheet exit velocity for the sheet of media that will optimize stack quality in a particular output tray. Then, the methods and devices change process controls sheet movement elements within a media path of the printing device to cause the sheet of media to exit the printing device at the sheet exit velocity.

Controlling exit velocity of printed sheets being stacked to optimize stack quality

A computer implemented method of cleaning electrodes (such as wires) is used in a toner-based electrostatic printing device. The electrodes produce an environment containing charged toner particles to assist in electrostatic printing. The method automatically monitors at least two printing parameters that are unrelated to signals and voltages provided to the electrodes (using a processor of the electrostatic printing device). Further, this method also uses the processor automatically infers a toner contamination of the electrodes from the printing parameters. This allows the processor to automatically adjust the printing the used by the electrostatic printing device during electrostatic printing to maintain the contamination of the electrodes below a threshold.

A fluid delivery system is controlled to adjust a release fluid delivery rate to a rate that is predetermined to be effective for fusing a next sheet in a print job before the sheet arrives at a fusing nip. Predetermined rates and corresponding media types may be stored in memory. A controller controls the fluid release system for a print job in accordance with a print job schedule based on the predetermined fluid delivery rates.

Disclosed are methods of controlling a speed of a fuser cleaner web in a fuser apparatus, and the corresponding fuser apparatus. The method utilizes a fuser cleaner web for cleaning a fuser roll and being disposed between the fuser roll and a web nip roll, the fuser cleaner web being unwound from a web supply roll and wound onto a take up roll, the take up roll being driven by a motor. The method determines an angular displacement of the motor from a start of the fuser cleaner web being unwound from the web supply roll, and controls a speed of the motor to maintain a substantially constant fuser cleaner web speed, wherein the speed of the motor is controlled based on the determined angular displacement of the motor and a changing diameter of the take up roll.

Apparatus and method for controlling feed commitments based on feedable capacity

A method maintains an environment within an interior of a sheet feeder during dead-cycling of an image forming device to which the sheet feeder is operatively connected. The method jets pulses of air into the interior of the sheet feeder that houses two or more pieces of media therein while the image forming device is dead-cycling. By the method, the attractive forces between two pieces of adjacent media. In a stack are reduced or minimized, and feeding of multiple sheets can be reduced or eliminated.
