A laser operating machine for additive manufacture of objects, via a process of laser thermal treatment of metal powders, in particular via fusion, comprising a movement structure (), which is mobile in a working space () that comprises a working surface (), said machine operating according to a first cartesian system of axes of movement (X, Y, Z) and being configured for supporting a moving element () comprising one or more nozzles () for emitting jets of powder to be treated thermally onto a working substrate (), and an optical laser assembly () for conveying a laser beam (L) to form a laser spot (S) focused on said working substrate () in order to carry out thermal treatment of said powders. According to the invention, said moving element () comprises: an upper portion () associated in a fixed way to said movement structure (), said optical laser assembly () being set in said upper portion (); and a lower portion (), set in which is a tool-carrier frame (), arranged on which are said one or more nozzles () for emitting jets of powder, and in that said nozzles () are arranged on said frame () so that longitudinal axes (U) thereof form an angle of inclination (β) with respect to said vertical axis (I) such that jets (PJ) of said nozzles () intersect in a powder-deposition point (PD), said machine () comprising actuator means for varying said angle of inclination (β) of said longitudinal axes (U) of said one or more nozzles (); said optical laser assembly () being set in the moving element () so as to send the laser beam (L) onto the working surface () passing within perimeter defined by said plurality of nozzles () emitting jets of powder.

Laser operating machine for additive manufacturing by laser thermal treatment, in particular by fusion, and corresponding method

A method for additive manufacturing, wherein an additive-manufacturing head () is provided, configured both for directing one or more jets of powders, in particular metal powders, onto a region of a working surface (), and for directing simultaneously a laser beam onto such a region, to form a laser-beam focusing spot (LS) on the region, and wherein, during direction of the powder jets and of the laser beam, the additive-manufacturing head () is simultaneously translated in a direction transverse to the direction of the laser beam so as to give rise to a trace (MRP) obtained by melting of the powders as a result of the power transmitted to the powders by the focusing spot (LS). During movement of the additive-manufacturing head () in the transverse direction, a dynamic movement is imparted on the laser beam emitted by the head (), the movement being configured in such a way as to obtain a width of the trace (MRP) that is independent of the size of the focusing spot (LS) of the laser beam (L) and is equivalent to the one that would be produced by an apparent spot having a width substantially corresponding to the width of the trace (MPP), and in such a way that the distribution of the power transmitted by the laser beam to the trace (MPP) varies along the direction of the width of the trace (MPP).

Method and system for additive manufacturing
