A circuit for driving a capacitive load includes an amplifier for driving the load based on an input signal, the amplifier comprising at least a boost converter, a dynamic model configured to track a capacitance of the load and a voltage of the source for powering at least parts of the circuit, an adaptive filter, configured to filter the input signal based on an output of the dynamic model.

Adaptive control of capacitive load

An apparatus includes a temperature sensor, a digitally-controlled capacitor and a processor. The temperature sensor is coupled to a crystal oscillator and configured to generate an input signal depending on a temperature of the crystal oscillator. The digitally-controlled capacitor is connected to the crystal oscillator and configured to receive a control signal and, based on the control signal, to control a frequency of an output signal generated by the crystal oscillator. The processor is configured to receive the input signal from the temperature sensor, to convert the input signal into the control signal based on parameters that characterize the crystal oscillator and the digitally-controlled capacitor, and to apply the control signal to the digitally-controlled capacitor.

Digitally-based temperature compensation for a crystal oscillator

A method includes generating an encoded data block, dividing the encoded data block into a plurality of sub-blocks, and transmitting the plurality of sub-blocks over a plurality of physical medium attachments. The encoded data block may be generated using 64B/66B encoding, and the data being encoded could first be decoded using 8B/10B decoding. Another method includes receiving a plurality of sub-blocks over a plurality of physical medium attachments, generating an encoded data block using the plurality of sub-blocks, and recovering data encoded in the encoded data block. The data may be recovered from the encoded data block using 64B/66B decoding, and the recovered data may be subsequently encoded using 8B/10B encoding. Each physical medium attachment may be capable of serializing data for transmission over a physical transmission medium (such as printed circuit board tracks or lanes) and deserializing data received over the physical transmission medium.

Apparatus and method for transmitting and recovering encoded data streams across multiple physical medium attachments

An apparatus and method for transmitting and recovering encoded data streams across Physical Medium Attachments (PMA) are provided. The data stream includes a plurality of data blocks. The method of transmitting includes tagging at least some of the plurality of data blocks in the data stream. The method also includes splitting the data stream into first and second lanes of data blocks. The method further includes transmitting the first lane of data blocks to a first PMA and the second lane of data blocks to a second PMA.

Apparatus and method for transmitting and recovering encoded data streams across physical medium attachments

A method includes receiving first encoded data associated with one or more first lanes and decoding the first encoded data to produce decoded data. The method also includes encoding the decoded data to produce second encoded data associated with one or more second lanes and transmitting the second encoded data. In some embodiments, the method may further include multiplexing a plurality of code group sequences (the second encoded data) into the one or more second lanes, and the number of first lanes may be greater than the number of second lanes. In other embodiments, the method may also include demultiplexing a plurality of code group sequences from the one or more first lanes into a plurality of the second lanes, and the number of first lanes may be less than the number of second lanes.
