A method of controlling a drying cycle for drying delicate laundry in a laundry drying apparatus, in particular in a dryer or in a washer-dryer, wherein the laundry drying apparatus has a cabinet, a rotatable drum adapted to receive laundry to be dried, and a drying air channel arrangement designed to guide drying air through the drum for drying the laundry in the drum. The drying air is heated by a heating element and a blower is arranged in the channel arrangement adapted to convey the drying air. A drum motor is adapted to rotate the drum selectively in a main rotation direction () and in a counter rotation direction (). The method includes a drying phase sequence () having a first drying phase () and subsequently a second drying phase (). In the first drying phase () the drum is rotated alternately in the main and the counter rotation direction () while the drying air is conveyed at a first average flow rate through the drum. In the second drying phase () the drum is rotated in the main rotation direction () while the drying air is conveyed at a second average flow rate through the drum, wherein the first average flow rate is lower than the second average flow rate.

Laundry drying apparatus and method of controlling a drying cycle in a laundry drying apparatus

A method is provided for operating a heat pump laundry dryer or a heat pump washing machine having drying function. The laundry dryer or washing machine includes: a control unit controlling the operation of the laundry dryer or washing machine, a laundry treatment chamber for treating laundry using process air, a process air circuit for circulating the process air, a heat pump system having a refrigerant loop, in which the refrigerant fluid is circulated through a first and a second heat exchanger, a compressor for circulating the refrigerant fluid through the refrigerant loop, and a cooling fan unit () for cooling the compressor. The method includes: modifying or changing an operation parameter set of the cooling fan unit () in dependency of at least one of the following input variables: a user selectable input variable, a working parameter of the laundry drum, a working parameter of a process air fan, a working parameter set meter of an electric driving motor, a working parameter of the compressor, a drying progress status parameter or a status parameter of the laundry to be dried, and an environment parameter of the treatment apparatus environment.

Method of operating a heat pump laundry dryer and heat pump laundry dryer or heat pump washing machine having drying function

A laundry dryer () has a laundry drum () which is designed to rotate about an longitudinal axis (). An air recirculating conduit () is connected to the laundry drum (). A heater device () is located along air recirculating conduit () to heat the airflow. A rotatable fan () is located along air recirculating conduit () to produce an airflow flowing through drum (). The fan () is designed to be rotated in a main and secondary direction of rotation for providing different air flow rates. An electric motor () is mechanically connected with the fan () and the drum () for rotating the fan () and drum (), simultaneously. The home laundry dryer () further has electric control means () configured to control the electric motor () so as to cause: the drum () to rotate at a first rotational speed (v) in a forward direction of rotation, thereby resulting in the fan () being rotated in the main direction of rotation for providing a first air flow rate; or the drum () to rotate at a second rotational speed (v) greater than said first rotational speed (v) in a reverse direction of rotation, thereby resulting in the fan () being rotated in the secondary direction of rotation for providing a second air flow rate lower than the first air flow rate.

A method of controlling a rotatable-drum laundry drier to dry delicate laundry in a drum of the rotatable-drum laundry drier. The method includes the steps of feeding drying air into the drum; rotating the drum at a variable rotation speed about an axis of rotation; rotating the drum at a first rotation speed higher than, or equal to a rotation speed, at which centrifugal acceleration of the inner surface of the drum equals gravitational acceleration; making interruptions in rotation of the drum at the first rotation speed; and performing, at each interruption, one or more rotation cycles at a second rotation speed, so that, at each cycle, at least part of the laundry slides/tumbles slowly inside the drum while remaining in contact with the inner surface of the drum and/or another part of the laundry contacting the drum.

A method for controlling a rotatable-drum laundry drier to dry laundry in a drum is provided. The control method includes the steps of memorizing, in a memory device of the laundry drier, a comparison threshold variable in time according to a predetermined profile, and, at predetermined drying times in the laundry drying cycle, measuring an electric quantity indicating the moisture in the laundry at the drying time; comparing, at each drying time, the measured electric quantity with the memorized comparison threshold corresponding to the drying time; and determining the end of drying cycle time on the basis of this comparison.
