Phased transmit architecture

A method and system for enrolling speed dial names includes providing speaker dependent templates and associated telephone numbers and providing a penalized garbage model for unrecognized speech. When a request for a new template is received it is determined if the list of speed dial names is full (Step 201) and is not it is determined if that name is too similar (Step 205) to a name already on the speed dial list. If so, that name is rejected but if not it is determined if the speed dial name is too short (Step 302), and if not; too short or if the user wants to enter the short name the system asks the user to repeat the speed dial name and if a match it is entered. If not a match the system will swap the first and second utterance and compare to see if a match.

Method and system for enrolling addresses in a speech recognition

The present invention provides a system and method for performing speaker verification on a spoken utterance. The present invention includes a verification template generator (40) which generates speaker-dependent verification templates for each possible spoken item that may be in the spoken utterance. A speech recognizer (42) performs speech recognition functions on the spoken utterance. A frame mapper (44) marks the beginning and ending of each spoken item within the spoken utterance. Verification module (46) generates a verification signal in response to verifying a minimum number of the spoken items within the spoken utterance being matched with the speaker dependent verification templates.

Method and system for performing speaker verification on a spoken

A voice recognition telephone system (10) allows a user to generate a plurality of directories (76). Each directory has a corresponding entry list containing a plurality of entry names and corresponding phone numbers. The user can add (172) or remove (170) entry names as desired. The user can enter phone numbers (192) for each entry name and modify phone numbers as desired. The user can also place a call (158) through a generated entry name.

A method and system are provided for configuring a telephone (10). A connection (20) is formed between the telephone (10) and a telephone environment (60). A list of services offerable through at least one type of telephone environment is generated (100). A list of candidate procedures for establishing each listed service through the telephone environment is generated (102). Ones of the listed procedures are executed (104) to determine whether each listed service is supported by the connection (20).

A method and system are provided for configuring a telephone (10). A connection (20) is formed between the telephone (10) and a telephone environment (60). A list of services offerable through the telephone environment is generated (100). A list of candidate procedures for establishing each listed service through the telephone environment is generated (102). At least one of the listed procedures is executed (104) for each listed service to determine whether the listed service is supported by the connection (20).
