A mobile computing device includes: a display; a device housing supporting the display and having a wall defining an exterior surface; a communications controller supported within a device interior enclosed between the display and the device housing; a cleat affixed to the exterior surface of the wall and configured to couple an accessory to the device housing, the cleat including a conductive antenna element; and a feed connector having an exterior end electrically coupled with the conductive antenna element of the cleat, an interior end electrically coupled with the communications controller, and a body traversing the wall to join the exterior and interior ends.

A mobile computing device includes: a housing having a front face, an opposing back face, and side walls joining the front and back faces; a microphone supported within the housing; and an acoustic channel extending between the microphone and an exterior of the housing, the acoustic channel defined by: (i) a microphone port traversing one of the side walls; (ii) a membrane assembly affixed to a first inner housing surface around the microphone port; and (iii) an isolation plate affixed to a second inner housing surface surrounding at least a portion of the first inner housing surface, the isolation plate having a channel opening therethrough and configured to engage with the membrane assembly.

Ingress protection subsystem for microphones in mobile computing devices

A connector assembly for a mobile device includes a bottom plate adapted to be operably coupled with a mobile device and a towel bar being operably coupled with the bottom plate. The towel bar has a quadrilateral cross section that defines at least a first engaging surface and a second engaging surface. The towel bar is adapted to engage an accessory device at at least one of the first engaging surface or the second engaging surface to couple the accessory device with the mobile device.
