The invention is related to a system () for converting fuel material comprising: a first reactor () in which a fuel material reacts with an oxide material for producing reaction products including fuel particles, ash and oxide particles, a second reactor () for oxidizing the oxide particles produced in the first reactor (), a carbon separator () that receives fuel particles, ash and oxide particles produced in the first reactor () and suitable for separating the oxide particles and ash from the fuel particles, the carbon separator () comprising an outlet path () for the oxide particles and ash exhaust, characterized in that said outlet path () of the carbon separator () is connected to an ash separator () for separating the ash from the oxide particles.

System for converting fuel materials

A hot solids process selectively operable for purposes of generating at least one predetermined output based on what the specific nature of the primary purpose of the hot solids process is for which the at least one predetermined output that is selected from a multiplicity of predetermined outputs, such as H2 and CO2, is being produced, and wherein such primary purpose of the hot solids process is designed to be pre-selected from a group of primary purposes of the hot solids process that includes at least two of the generation of H2 for electric power purposes, the generation of SynGas for electric power production as well as for other industrial uses, the production of steam for electric power generation as well as for other uses, the production of process heat, the production of CO2 for agricultural purposes, and the generation of a feedstock such as H2 for use for the production of liquid hydrocarbons.

Hot solids process selectively operable based on its primary purpose

The method of simultaneously reducing carbon dioxide (CO ) emissions and sulfur dioxide (SO ) emissions produced by the combustion of carbon-containing matter in a hearth consists in injecting into the hearth a calcium-based agent, a fraction of which absorbs SO after decarbonization, and then, after the flue gases have been subjected to intermediate cooling, in causing them to transit via a first reactor and in putting them in contact therein with the other fraction of the absorbant that has not reacted with SO so as to capture CO from the flue gases by carbonization, then, in a separator, in extracting the solids contained in the flue gases output from the first reactor so as to subject them to heat treatment in a second reactor in order to extract CO therefrom by decarbonization and in order to recycle the resulting regenerated CO absorbant to the first reactor.

Method of simultaneously reducing CO2 and SO2 emissions in a combustion installation

The circulating fluidized bed boiler comprises a combustion hearth and a separator cyclone interconnected by a duct which extends along a longitudinal axis and which channels a flow of particles and gas containing nitrogen oxides. It also includes means for injecting into the flow a reagent for reducing nitrogen oxides. Said means comprises at least a first injection tube disposed in a setback of the top portion of the combustion hearth which extends over the duct so as to inject the reagent along the longitudinal axis of the duct in the same direction as the flow.

Circulating fluidized bed boiler with improved nitrogen oxide reduction

The present invention concerns a method of reducing polluting emissions from a circulating fluidized bed combustion installation including a furnace from which the dust is recovered at least in part by a cyclone, the partially dedusted gases output by the cyclone passing through a recovery boiler, and then into a dust filter, in which method a desulfurizing agent is inserted into the furnace. According to the invention, downstream from said recovery boiler, and upstream from said dust filter, the flue gases are desulfurized in semi-humid manner in a reaction enclosure provided with a water injection inlet. Downstream from said dust filter, the resulting desulfurization products are thermally oxidized.

Method of reducing polluting emissions from circulating fluidized bed

The present invention relates to a device for protecting heat exchangers placed in a duct (1) for smoke filled with fine particles of ash, e.g. coming from a pulverized coal boiler. The heat exchangers are constituted by parallel grids (10) each comprising a main region (A) fitted with rectilinear lengths (11) of tube extending perpendicularly to the direction of smoke movement, and two end regions (B) fitted with bends (12) and rectilinear lengths (13) of tube extending parallel to the direction of smoke movement. The protective device is constituted by parallel panels (20) which are parallel to the grids (10) of tubes, with each panel (20) being placed between two grids (10) and at each end region (B).
