An apparatus for modifying the geometry of at least one part of a turbine can include a shell assemblythat includes an outer shell that is shaped to modify the shape of a pre-existing element of a turbine. The outer shellof the shell assemblycan be composed of a fiber-reinforced polymeric material and can at least partially define an inner cavity. The outer shellcan be bonded to a structure to modify the geometrical shape of that structure. Thereafter, a polymer castingcan be injected into the inner cavity via at least one injection port attached to the shell assembly. In some embodiments, one or more stiffenersand/or a corecan be positioned within the inner cavity to help improve the bonding of the polymer castingto the shelland/or improve a structural property of the apparatus.

Apparatus and method for modifying a geometry of a turbine part

An apparatus is provided for modifying the geometry of at least one part of a turbine, which can include a shell assembly that includes an outer shell that is shaped to modify the shape of a pre-existing element of a turbine. The outer shell of the shell assembly can be composed of a fiber-reinforced polymeric material and can at least partially define an inner cavity. The outer shell can be bonded to a structure to modify the geometrical shape of that structure. Thereafter, a polymer casting can be injected into the inner cavity via at least one injection port attached to the shell assembly. In some embodiments, one or more stiffeners and/or a core can be positioned within the inner cavity to help improve the bonding of the polymer casting to the shell and/or improve a structural property of the apparatus.

When traversed by a flow of water, a hydraulic machine rotating part rotates around an axis of rotation. It includes runners which are distributed around the axis of rotation and each extend between a leading edge and a trailing edge. Each runner can include a first part which defines its leading edge and a second part which is attached to the first part and defines the trailing edge at least in part. The second part can be elastically deformable or displaceable in a reversible manner with respect to the first part, under the action of the flow of water, the second part defining, when the machine operates, the direction of the flow of water downstream of the runner.

A hydraulic turbine with increased power capacities for new or existing hydroelectric installations. The turbine has a larger axial runner wheel and a reshaped runner ring peripherally extending around the runner wheel. A draft tube with a larger elbow section extends on a downstream side of the runner ring. A water supply port extends around a rotation axis of the runner wheel on an upstream side of the runner ring, and is adapted to produce a centripetal water flow swirling around the rotation axis of the runner wheel. A turning passageway extends between the water supply port and the runner ring, and is adapted to guide and redirect the centripetal water flow in a substantially axial direction of the runner wheel. An axial distributor extends between the turning passageway and the runner ring.
