A tire fitted with a transponder comprises: a crown comprising a crown reinforcement having an axial end at each of its edges, connected at each of its axial ends by a sidewall to a bead having an interior end; a carcass reinforcement layer formed of parallel reinforcers, which is anchored in each bead around a bead wire to form a main part and a turn-up; the transponder comprising a core defining a first axis, a first cover filament helically twisted around the core and an electrical insulation device; and the first cover filament comprising at least two conductive filamentary elements galvanically connected to an electronic chip comprising a radiofrequency transmission-reception component. The thickness of elastomeric compound separating the outer cover filament, located radially outermost with respect to the first axis, and the reinforcements is greater than 0.5 millimeters.

A method for detecting wear on a tire at one or more predetermined wear thresholds in tread pattern elements of the tire includes the steps of allocating a discrete wear variable to the tread pattern element to a discrete impedance variable representing the impedance of a passive tuned circuit contained in at least one of the elements. Method and systems for measuring the degree of wear on a tire

The tread wear on a tire is measured while the tire is mounted on a wheel. Electromagnetic energy is transmitted to an internal space of the tire via a transmission element disposed in a tire tread element. That transmitted energy is detected inside the tire, and an energy variable from the detected electromagnetic radiation is determined which is used to determine a wear variable representative of wear on the tire tread element. A signal transmitter disposed within the internal space sends signals representative of the wear.

The present invention concerns a method for measuring the wear of a tire () having tread pattern elements interconnected by grooves, which is mounted on a wheel fitted on an automobile having a chassis and a suspension system (), the method including, when the vehicle () rolling or at rest, the following steps: at a given moment a reference value is measured, which is representative of the distance between, on the one hand, a first point fixed on the suspension system () or a second point fixed on the chassis facing the tire (), and on the other hand the top of at least one of the tread pattern elements opposite, ii) in a first case, at the given moment a reference value is measured which represents a distance measured between the first or second point and the bottom of one of the grooves opposite, or, alternatively, in a second case, another reference value is measured subsequently, which represents a distance measured between the first point and one of the tops, and iii the value measured in i) is compared with the reference value measured in ii) to deduce therefrom, in the first case, a wear datum representing the height of the pattern element by differential measurement at the moment, and in the second case, a wear datum representing the change of wear at the top of the element.
