A heat-exchange module has a main exchanger and at least one secondary exchanger, each having a body with fluid-circulation tubes, and cooling fins, the secondary exchanger being fixed onto the main exchanger. The module includes a set of fins common to the main exchanger and to at least one secondary exchanger, these fins being mounted on the tubes of the main exchanger and projecting from this exchanger, the projecting parts of the fins including cut-outs for accommodating the tubes of the secondary exchanger. Fastenings secure the secondary exchanger in the position in which its tubes are engaged in the cut-outs.

A heat exchange device comprises two arrays of tubes through which flow two respective fluids. The device comprises a common support plate for the two arrays, which has a first portion provided with holes to act as a header plate for a first array and a second portion provided with openings for receiving in a forced fit manner the tubes of a second array with curved connectors. In one embodiment of the invention one array contains an engine cooling fluid and the other array contains a refrigerant fluid of an air-conditioning circuit.

A folded tube for a motor vehicle heat exchanger, is made from a metal strip folded on itself so as to form two parallel channels separated by a spacer. The spacer results from the joining of two borders of the strip each being folded at right angles towards the inside of the tube from an outer face. Each of the borders is folded at right angles with respect to the outer face, forming a folded outer edge, and includes a protruding swelling which extends at least on the same side as the outer face of the strip. The invention makes it possible to produce a tube having flat large faces, the continuity of which is assured in the regions close to the spacer and which contributes to better holding of corrugated spacers in the heat exchanger.

A heat exchanger for an automobile radiator having a matrix of tubes extending through a stack of fins. The matrix has lateral faces having free edges of the fins which are protected by a side cover. The side cover comprises a spine portion and two side branches terminated in anchor hooks which engage with lateral notches on the fins. The spine portion is substantially flat and has on its internal face a longitudinal rib, which makes contact with the free edges of the fins.

In an assembly consisting of a heat exchanger, such as a cooling radiator for the internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, together with a motorized fan unit mounted on the finned body of the heat exchanger for providing a forced draught through the latter, the motorized fan unit comprises an electric motor fixed on the heat exchanger body and driving a fan rotor which lies facing a major face of the heat exchanger body. A bundle of electric cables extending from the motor extends along at least part of that major face. The assembly includes an electrical connecting means including the bundle of cables and fastening means which holds the bundle of cables flat against the heat exchanger body and out of any contact with the fan rotor.

The electrical supply cable for the motorized fan unit of a fan assisted heat exchanger, for example the cooling radiator for a motor vehicle internal combustion engine in which the radiator comprises a matrix consisting of tubes with cooling fins, extends through the matrix via a bore through the latter in which the cable is guided by an insulating member disposed within the matrix. The cable therefore does not pass along the face of the matrix on which the motorized fan unit is attached, so that damage to the cable is avoided. A heat exchanger, in particular an engine cooling radiator for a motor vehicle, and especially one having a single row of tubes, comprises a bundle of tubes which are fitted sealingly in holes in a metallic tube plate, with a header being fitted over the tube plate. The heat exchanger also includes retaining plates which are formed integrally with the tube plate from a single press-formed sheet metal blank, the retaining plates then being bent over into their correct orientation. Each retaining plate extends parallel to the longitudinal direction of the tubes in the bundle, and is such as to engage against the edges of cooling fins of the tube bundle, thus preventing any movement, in pivoting or torsion, of the tube bundle with respect to the assembly consisting of the tube plate and the header.

In an assembly of a heat exchanger, such as a motor vehicle engine cooling radiator, with a motorised fan unit for directing a forced flow of air through the heat exchanger, the motor of the fan unit has a base plate which bears on one of the major faces of the matrix of the heat exchanger, which consists of tubes and fins fitted over the tubes. The base plate has lugs extending radially outwardly and formed with holes. In order to fasten the motorized fan unit to the heat exchanger, the matrix of the latter is clamped between the motor base plate and a securing plate which is applied on the opposite major face of the matrix, by means of screws through the respective holes in the lugs. Each screw is surrounded by a spacing sleeve fixed to the securing plate and abutting endwise on the corresponding lug of the motor base plate. The spacers and associated screws extend through apertures formed by cutting portions out of appropriate fins, to form voids through the whole thickness of the matrix.

A heat exchanger, particularly for a motor vehicle, comprises a bundle of finned tubes, with each tube having an end portion which is sealingly mounted in a hole formed in a header plate on which a casing of a water header of the heat exchanger is secured. The heat exchanger has at least one locating or immobilising member interposed between the tube bundle and the water header. This locating member has a first portion which bears on the header and a second portion which extends parallel to the longitudinal direction of the tubes in the bundle, and which bears against the longitudinal edges of a group of several fins adjacent to the header plate. In this way any relative displacement of the tube bundle with respect to the header plate, in particular in a pivoting or torsional mode, is resisted.
