A current interrupting chamber comprising a moving assembly movable axially between a start position and an end position of an operation of opening the circuit-breaker. The current interrupting chamber includes a first compression chamber; a hollow drive tube having ports for bringing the interior of the drive tube into communication with the outside of the current interrupting chamber; a second compression chamber; and a structure for obstructing the ports of the drive tube from the start position of an operation of opening the circuit-breaker and up to an intermediate position which is reached between the position of separation of two arcing contacts from each other and the end position of an operation of opening the circuit-breaker.

Interrupting chamber of a circuit-breaker having two compression volumes

A current-interrupting chamber is filled with a dielectric fluid and includes a moving assembly. The moving assembly is mounted to move axially between a position at the start of a circuit-breaker opening operation and a position at the end of a circuit-breaker opening operation. The moving assembly has a first compression chamber whose volume decreases between the start position and a position in which the first chamber is open; a first arcing contact designed to co-operate with a second arcing contact; and a second compression chamber communicating with the first compression chamber. The volume of the second compression chamber decreases between the start position and the end position. The second compression chamber is designed to inject fluid into the first compression chamber, between the open position and the end position, when the pressure in the first chamber is lower than the pressure in the second chamber.

Interrupting chamber having two compression chambers

The control device comprises a vacuum first item of switchgear () which includes a pair of contacts () that can be separated for interruption purposes. It also includes a main drive shaft () for actuating a second item of switchgear () immersed in a gaseous insulating fluid (G) contained at a determined pressure (P), and further includes an auxiliary shaft () to enable a moving contact () of the first item of switchgear () to be driven. The auxiliary shaft () passes in leaktight manner through a wall (A,') which separates the volume of gaseous insulating fluid (G) from another volume (V) of fluid (G) at a lower pressure, the difference between the respective pressures (P, P) of the two fluids (G, G) procuring a certain force (F) which is applied to said auxiliary shaft () and which participates in said contact pressure force.

The invention relates to a hybrid circuit-breaker which, for each pole, comprises a dielectric-gas interrupting chamber () which contains a first contact (A) and a moving second contact (B) that are disposed longitudinally to a first axis (AA') and in which the first contact (A) is connected to a first terminal (A) of the network, said interrupting chamber () being connected in series with a vacuum bottle () which contains a fixed contact (A) and a moving contact (B) that are disposed longitudinally to a second axis (BB&#x2032;) and in which the fixed contact (A) is connected to a second terminal (B) of the network, actuating means acting via a single control () to move said moving contacts between respective open positions and respective closed positions. According to the invention, said actuating means comprise a re-closure arrangement for re-closing the moving contact (B) of the vacuum bottle, which re-closure arrangement enables said single control () to perform such re-closure before the moving contact (B) of said interrupting chamber reaches its open position.

High-voltage hybrid circuit-breaker

A hybrid high-voltage or medium-voltage breaker device includes an enclosure filled with a dielectric gas, a vacuum switch, a gas switch and an operating rod. The vacuum switch includes a fixed first arc contact and a second arc contact which can move in translation in an axial direction of the enclosure. The gas switch includes a fixed or quasi-fixed third arc contact and a fourth arc contact which can move in translation. The operating rod is connected to the fourth contact. The device also includes a connection arrangement for electrically connecting the second and third contacts and a displacement arrangement connected to the connection arrangement and to the rod which separates the second and fourth contacts from the first and third contacts, respectively.

High-voltage or medium-voltage switch device with combined vacuum and gas breaking

A high-voltage circuit-breaker including a valve for decompressing a thermal blast chamber includes two contacts disposed in a breaking space which is delimited by a blast nozzle and contains a dielectric gas. It further includes a thermal blast chamber which communicates with the breaking space via a throat of the nozzle and with an expansion space via an evacuation passage which can be shut off by a valve. The valve opens when the pressure in the thermal blast chamber is greater than a particular threshold to evacuate the pressurized gas from the chamber. The evacuation passage is formed in the nozzle and defines a circular volume within the thickness of the nozzle, following its general shape, and opening into the expansion space downstream of the breaking space relative to the throat.

High-voltage circuit-breaker including a valve for decompressing a thermal blast chamber

A circuit-breaker includes two contacts which are disposed in an interrupting space filled with a dielectric gas under pressure and between which an electric arc strikes during circuit-breaker opening, a thermal blast chamber communicating directly with the interrupting space, and a piston-driven compression chamber communicating with the thermal blast chamber. The piston-driven compression chamber communicates with the interrupting space via a discharge channel that is separate from the thermal blast chamber and that is closed by a discharge valve. The discharge valve is disposed between the thermal blast chamber and the piston-driven compression chamber in a manner such that the discharge valve opens to enable the gas under increased pressure in the piston-driven compression chamber to be discharged towards the interrupting space via the channel when the increase in the pressure of the gases in the thermal blast chamber is larger than the increase in the pressure of the gases in the piston-driven compression chamber.

A hybrid interrupter device includes a casing filled with a dielectric gas; a vacuum interrupter having a first arcing contact which is fixed and a second arcing contact which moves in translation in the axial direction of the casing; a force exertion device for exerting a force on the second contact while the vacuum interrupter is allowing current to pass; a gas interrupter having a third arcing contact which is fixed and a fourth arcing contact which moves in translation; and a drive rod connected to the fourth contact. The device further includes a connection device electrically interconnecting the second and third contacts, and capable of being moved in translation together with the second contact; and a displacement mechanism connected to the connection device and to the rod for displacing them so as to separate the second and fourth contacts from the first and third contacts, respectively.

High-voltage interrupter device having combined vacuum and gas interruption

The arc blast switch can have single or dual contact movement and possesses a break chamber with low gas compression, the switch includes a first contact and a second contact, the first contact being movable in a longitudinal axis and being secured to the break chamber in which the gas is compressed by a piston. A device for displacing the piston is arranged so that its movement changes direction inside the case of the switch after the gas compression stage, and the device includes a telescopic link connected to the piston. The length of the displacement of the piston inside the case during the compression stage is not less than the length of the displacement of the first contact during the compression stage.

Arc-blasting switch possessing a break chamber with low gas compression and reciprocating piston movement

An insulating blast nozzle for a circuit breaker, the circuit breaker having a first arcing contact and a second arcing contact that separate from each other when the circuit breaker is opened subsequent to prior separation of permanent contacts, said insulating blast nozzle being secured to one of the permanent contacts and being generally horn-shaped, having a throat and defining a volume of revolution having an upstream portion and a downstream portion joined by the throat, in which the inside volume is cylindrical and closed by the second arcing contact when the circuit breaker is closed and for a few milliseconds after the arcing contacts have separated, the wall of the nozzle in its portion defining the upstream portion of said volume of revolution surrounding said first arcing contact, the downstream portion of said volume comprising a first conical portion, wherein said first conical portion is followed by a second conical portion having a flare angle that is more open than that of said first conical portion.

In an interrupter with a resistor insertion system, the resistor insertion system comprises two auxiliary contacts, a first of which is electrically connected to a semi-mobile permanent current contact and the second of which is electrically connected to a fixed arc contact. The two auxiliary contacts are mounted to be mobile relative to each other along a longitudinal axis so as to be able to move toward each other when the interrupter closes to make a connection that short-circuits the resistor and so as to be constrained to move together along the longitudinal axis when the interrupter closes before making the connection which short-circuits the resistor, to increase the resistor insertion time.

Operating mechanism for actuating an operating rod (13) of a circuit-breaker including at least one interrupter chamber filled with a pressurized dielectric gas, said operating mechanism using a tripping spring (21) held charged when the circuit-breaker is closed by a selectively operable tripping abutment (23). The operating mechanism has a resetting member formed by a member (34) moving through a wall of a sealed and closed enclosure (32) communicating with the pressurized interrupter chamber.

Operating mechanism for high-voltage circuit-breakers

A circuit breaker which includes first arcing and permanent contacts that are mounted stationary inside an enclosure, second arcing and permanent contacts that are mounted to move inside the enclosure along a longitudinal direction and designed to co-operate with the first contacts, and a system for inserting a closure resistance, the second contacts forming a portion of equipment carrying a blast nozzle. The resistance insertion system comprises a semi-moving block which is disposed to be displaced in the longitudinal direction by the blast nozzle during a closure operation. The block carries a first switching contact designed to co-operate with a stationary second switching contact connected to the first stationary permanent contact. By displacement of the block, the first and second switching contacts are moved towards each other to short circuit the closure resistance while the first and second arcing contacts are in contact with each other and the first and second permanent contacts are separate from each other.

Circuit breaker having a closure resistance

A compressed gas interrupter comprises two contact assemblies each including at least one wear contact and one of which is mobile along an axis relative to the other, which is fixed. The mobile contact assembly is moved along the axis by an insulative maneuvering rod and has a gas compression chamber which, in the open position, communicates via an insulative nozzle with an expansion chamber. The compression chamber includes a piston attached to the hollow wear contact of the mobile contact assembly and which slides in a cylinder attached to the maneuvering rod, the cylinder delimiting the compression chamber with the piston and the nozzle. The hollow wear contact is mobile relative to the maneuvering rod. A system using balls immobilizes the hollow wear contact during initial travel of the maneuvering rod to open the interrupter and constrains the hollow wear contact to move with the maneuvering rod at the end of its travel.
