Chip card connector with locking mechanism

A contact strip includes adjacent contact blade members and at least one pair of adjacent contact blade members each having a horizontal axis and a first of which blade members has a greater developed length than the second of the blade members and a distal extension extending towards the second blade member. The first blade member has a projecting region, the distal extension overlapping the second blade member.

Case for microcircuit card reader

A case for microcircuit card reader, comprising a case body, an electronic circuit incorporated into the case body, a device for guiding the card and holding it in place, and a connector incorporating elastic contact segments providing an electrical connection between conductors belonging to the card and the aforementioned electronic circuit. The connector (22, 23) is fastened to the body of the case (1). The connector (22, 23) may be integrated into the case body (2), this attachment being produced by duplicate molding of the elastic contact segments (23) in the body of the case (1).

A board connector for an 'miniboard' IC cards, including a planar base incorporating electrical contact elements having first ends extending beyond the front and rear edges of the base, and second ends projecting above its upper surface. A cover housing an IC card is pivotably hinged to the base and contains insertion slide tracks for the card. The base and the cover include corresponding latching elements to keep them in closed card-connection position. These latching elements are disconnected by applying pressure on an edge of the cover parallel to its axis of pivoting.

Board connector, in particular for electronic board

A smart card reader suitable for use in a pocket radiotelephone comprises a case enclosing the other parts of the reader including a printed circuit board and an arrangement for fixing the printed circuit board to the case. A smart card connector comprises an insulative frame carrying spring contacts, a cover for exerting pressure on a smart card and an arrangement for fixing the frame to the cover. The connector cover is integral with the case and the arrangement for fixing the frame to the cover fixes the frame direct to the case.

The invention relates to a contact frame for an I.C. card reader. The contact frame includes in particular a frame member of insulating material provided with at least two windows together with contact elements constituted by two sets of blades, namely a 'front' set and a 'rear' set. The blades of the rear set are embedded in a rear bar of the frame member delimiting the rear window, and their connection pin forming ends project from the rear bar. The blades in the front set have their connection pin forming ends projecting from the rear of the frame member in the vicinity of the connection pins of the rear set.

Contact frame for an I.C. card reader

The IC card reader includes card positioning and guide means and contact elements which provide electrical connections with conducting areas on the IC card, via which circuits are established with the apparatus in which the IC card reader is incorporated. The card reader includes, in particular, a carriage (8) which is moveable relative to a contact frame (3), having a rest position that it occupies when there is no card in the reader, being urged into its rest position by return means (RA), and an actuated position into which it is thrust by a card (100) inserted in the reader. The carriage (8) is arranged to co-operate with the contact elements (35, 36) in such a manner that when in its rest position, the carriage (8) causes the contact elements (35, 36) to be held in a rest position in which they lie off the insertion path (62) of a card, and when in its actuated position, the carriage (8) causes the contact elements (35, 36) to bear against the contact positions of the card.

IC card reader

An IC card reader comprising card positioning or guide means, optionally means for verifying that the card is present in the reader in a position suitable for being read, and contact elements for providing electrical connection with conducting pads on the IC card, whereby circuits are established with the apparatus containing the IC card reader. The reader further comprises: a rocking lever (400 including a central pivot (41); an actuating cam (47) on one side of the pivot and against which a card (2) being inserted comes to bear at the end of its insertion stroke, thereby pivoting the lever from a rest position to a pressure-applying position; a pressure cam (51) on the other side of the pivot for bearing against the card when the rocking lever is in its pressure-applying position, thereby bending the card towards the contact elements (4); and resilient return means (45, 46) returning the rocking lever to its rest position when it is not engaged by a card inserted in the reader.

A contact frame for an IC card reader including, in particular, guide means for guiding or positioning the card, together with contact elements for providing electrical connection with conducting pads on the IC card via which circuits are established to the apparatus including the IC card reader, the contact frame being characterized by the fact that it comprises an inner frame (7) of insulating material molded over the contact elements (4) for providing electrical connection to the IC card, and two extensions (17, 18) extending the substance of the inner frame (7) sideways towards the side edges of the card and beyond said edges, each of said two extensions carrying means (6, 19, 20) for defining the positions of two card-guiding slideways (21, 22).

A contact frame for an IC card reader including contact elements for making connections with the IC card, the contact frame further including two electric contact blades (26, 28) carried by said frame and constituting an end-of-stroke contact (5), with one of said blades, a 'fixed' blade (28), being coupled to the frame in such a manner that its stationary position relative to the frame is defined, while the other blade, a moving blade (26), is urged by a resilient force in a direction opposite to the direction in which a card is inserted into the reader, and is disposed in such a manner that a card being inserted comes into abutment thereagainst and imparts actuating motion thereto against its resilient force.
