Rotary continuous casting device

A method to enter a metal slab (2) into a roll stand (10) and a rolling unit to enhance the entry of the slab into the roll gap (13) between the working cylinders (1, 1') of the rolling mill. At least one of the last rollers (45) of the table (3), located immediately upstream of the roll stand (10) in the direction of entry, is mounted for vertical movement with respect to the table (3) and is subject to a lifting load at least equal to the weight of the nose (22) of the slab (2) in such a manner that, at the end of its forward motion towards the roll stand, the said nose (22) is supported by the movable roller (45), which thus is applied perfectly against the lower surface (20) of the slab and is rotary-driven in the direction of entry so as to exert on the slab (2) a thrust load, which is added to the load exerted at least by the first driven roller ( 32) of the table (3) to enhance the introduction of the slab (2) into the roll gap (13).

Rolling method for metal slab

An installation for rolling a flat product, comprising a support stand composed of two spaced uprights between which is placed a plurality of superposed rolls, between which a squeezing force is applied, for rolling a product (B) passing between two work rolls (A, A'). At least one of the work rolls (A) consists of a tubular jacket mounted for rotation about a stationary central shaft along which is provided a plurality of spaced bushes, isolated from one another. The work roll is associated with a feed circuit for circulating pressurized oil in order to form an oil film between each bush and the jacket. The pressure of the oil film between each bush and the corresponding zone of the jacket is individually adjusted for the application of radial forces of adjustable intensity per bush.

There is provided a roller for continuous monitoring of the profile of a strip consisting of a rotary tubular wall (4), to which the strip is applied, and at least one series of pick-ups (2) substantially aligned parallel to the axis of the tubular wall (4). The pick-ups (2) are placed in housings (43) made in the tubular wall (4) with an opening at least in the interior face of the tubular wall. The pick-ups of each series are mounted on a straight support bar (3) centered upon the mean direction of the pick-ups of each series, the bars (3) being applied against the interior face (45) of the wall (4) by detachable fixing means. The device is particularly useful for monitoring the planarity of rolled metal sheets.

Continuous monitoring roller for the profile of a strip

A device for measuring flatness defects in a strip (15), e.g., rolled metal sheets, by the use of sensors. The voltage is measured within an amplitude measuring interval smaller than the voltage variation interval after the pulse, each sensor is associated with a correction transformer (7) capable of delivering on each energizing pulse an adjustable correction voltage (U2) algebraically added to the voltage (U1) at the terminals of the secondary winding (42) of the sensor and whose value, at the instant of measurement, is determined so as to bring the measured voltage (U3) within the measurement interval of the converter.

Device for measuring flatness defects in a strip

At an installation comprising a roll stand having at least one roll of the variable camber type, comprising a fixed support and a casing carried by at least three jacks and rotationally movable about the support, the pressure of the fluid in each of the jacks (14), the position of the pistons of these jacks, the speed of rotation of the roll, and the flatness and thickness of the flat product are measured. The position of one of the jacks (14b) is controlled by the thickness measurement. The pressure in the other jacks (14a, 14c, 14d, 14e) is controlled by the pressure in the one jack (14b). The positions of the end jacks (14a and 14e) are compared and the pressure in the jacks (14) is modified in order to bring the tilt of the roll to a suitable value. The deformation of the fixed support is calculated and the shape of the generatrix of contact of the roll is determined. The pressure in the jacks (14) is modified in order to bring the generatrix to a reference shape. The invention is particularly applicable to four-high rolling mills having variable camber supporting rolls.
