A process to create a collision in controlled conditions between a stream of gas and particles and a target includes the generation of a stream of gas and particles, of given composition, in the form of a unidirectional beam, using a supersonic burner comprising a combustion chamber and a gas gun, the combustion chamber being fed with a set of fluids comprising a set of gases comprising an oxidizer, and a specific liquid fuel. The generation of a collision between the beam and the target includes the adjustment of the fuel flow, the flow of each gas and the adjustment of the distance between the burner and the target, so as to obtain at the impact point the desired values of the following parameters: (i) the gas temperature or the temperature of the target, and (ii) the gas speed.

Process to create a collision between a stream of gas and particles and a target

A wind tunnel making it possible to measure the vaporization parameters of a test liquid exposed in a gas flow is disclosed. The wind tunnel comprises: a gas generator configured to generate a gas at a flow rate and at a temperature that are adjustable; a conditioning device designed to obtain a horizontal and uniform flow of the generated gas; a measurement chamber containing the liquid to be tested and various measurement devices making it possible to characterize the flow of gas passing through the measurement chamber; a tapping and analysis zone in which the gas-and-vapor mixture is tapped analyzed; and a discharge zone configured to discharge the gas-and-vapor mixture. The liquid to be tested in the tunnel presents a free surface positioned inside the measurement chamber in a manner such that it is swept continuously and tangentially by the uniform flow of gas.

The invention provides a method of operating a thermal installation comprising a combustion chamber fed with a fuel contaminated with vanadium, with sulphur and possibly with sodium. In particular, the combustion chamber is also fed with boron and with magnesium, in quantities such that the sodium molar ratio s=NaSO/VO, the magnesium molar ratio m=MgO/VOand the boron molar ratio b=BO/VOsatisfy the equation m&#x2267;3+2b&#x2212;s, so that the combustion products comprise magnesium orthovanadate, mixed magnesium boron oxide and possibly sodium borate. The invention also provides for the use of such a method to inhibit corrosion of the thermal installation by vanadium oxide, possibly in the presence of sodium.
