There is described a method for delivering exogenous biomolecules into an eye. The method generally has the steps of injecting, into a region of the eye, a mixture having a plurality of exogenous biomolecules and a plurality of plasmonic structures, the plasmonic structures having a plasmonic resonance wavelength, the plasmonic structures adjoining membranes of target cells in said region due to said injecting; and irradiating said region of said eye with a laser beam having a wavelength being offset to said plasmonic resonance wavelength, said irradiating causing the plasmonic structures to form pores in said membranes of said target cells, allowing at least some of the exogenous biomolecules to be delivered into the target cells via said pores.

There is provided a process for preparing alloy nanoparticles having a desired size. The process comprises a combination of co-reduction of metal salts in the presence of a reducing agent, and multi-step seeded growth synthesis. Also provided is a material which comprises alloy nanoparticles made of at least two metals. A mean diameter of the particles of the material is between about 30 nm and 200 nm as measured by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and the particles have a coefficient of variation smaller than about 15%.

The invention relates to a method of iteratively, selectively tuning the impedance of integrated semiconductor devices, by modifying the dopant profile of a region of low dopant concentration by controlled diffusion of dopants from one or more adjacent regions of higher dopant concentration through the melting action of a focussed heating source, for example a laser. In particular the method is directed to increasing the dopant concentration of the region of lower dopant concentration, but may also be adapted to decrease the dopant concentration of the region.

A composite membrane is disclosed fabricated by depositing an inorganic ion-conducting thin film on a cation-selective organic polymer membrane substrate using Pulse Laser Deposition (PLD) or reactive magnetron sputtering. The fabricated membrane combines the advantages of the polymeric membrane including flexibility and low electrical resistance, with the advantages of the inorganic membrane film including resistance to fouling, high selectivity for alkali metal ions over hydrogen ions and resistance to oxidizing chemicals; electromembrane systems and processes for example alkali metal sensing electrodes and other membrane-based electrochemical detectors, electrolytic and electrodialytic systems incorporate such membranes thus improving their performance in terms of current efficiency, salt to acid conversion ratio, reliable operation and membrane life.
