Device for opening and closing a rear-entry ski boot, by simultaneous rotation of front and rear portions of the upper without raising the front portion. The rear portion rotates on the shell base about a hinge pin, and the front portion about a pivot axis at the front end of the shell base. The front and rear portions are joined to each other by a pin-and-slot connection located in overlapping extensions of these elements.

Device for opening and closing a ski boot

A rear-entry ski boot having a lower shell above which an upper is mounted which includes a rear spoiler which is pivotally mounted on the lower shell to facilitate the insertion and removal of the skier's foot. The boot additionally includes a removable heel portion affixed in place by a connection on the extreme rear end of the sole of the boot. The lower shell of the boot is open rearwardly, i.e., the two sidewalls are not joined at the rear of the sole of the boot and the releasable heel portion extends upwardly by an upper curved part which acts as a seal with the concave side facing forwardly and the upper curved part to be applied on the rear opening of the lower shell that is bounded by the upper edges of its sidewalls by overlapping the skier's heel rearwardly and by providing continuity in the lower shell to the rear.

Rear-entry ski boot

An item of wearing apparel for receiving an extremity, such as a ski shoe or boot for receiving a foot, provided with an energy source supplying an energy consuming device, such as a heating device, and a device controlling a supply element of the energy consuming device connected between the energy source and the consumer device. The shoe or boot includes a device for detecting the presence of a foot within the boot so as to allow the opening of the energy supplying element alone when the boot is put on and to automatically cause the closing of this supply element as soon as the boot is removed. The energy consuming device incorporated in the boot can be a heating device of the electric type in which case the device for detecting the presence of the foot in the boot acts on an electric switch connected, between an electric energy source and a heating assembly with heat resistance, or even the type using liquid or gaseous fuel and in this case, the device for detecting the presence of the foot in the boot acting on a device controlling a valve connected between a gas or liquid fuel tank and a heating assembly. Preferably, the device for detecting the presence of the foot in the boot are sensitive to the pressure exerted by the foot on the internal sole of the boot and this detection of the pressure is transmitted mechanically to the device controlling the element for supplying the heating assembly with energy. The boot with an upper according to the invention which can be an alpine or cross-country ski shoe or boot is provided with a heating device which, in the case of the non-limiting embodiment presently described, is of the gas fuel type. However, the invention could be applied in the same manner to a boot provided with an electric or liquid fuel heating device.

Wearing apparel having an energy consuming device

An item of wearing apparel, such as a shoe or boot, particularly for downhill or cross-country skiing, having a foot support zone, a sole, and an upper which may be tightened, in which the shoe or boot has a heating assembly located proximate the sole. The heating assembly includes a heating device such as a burner for producing heat, a plate for diffusion of the heat, the plate being located proximate the foot support zone, a source of fuel, a supply circuit for feeding fuel to the heating device, and a valve for regulating the feeding of fuel to the heating device. The energy supply is automatically turned off when the upper of the shoe or boot is loosened.

Alpine ski boot

An item of wearing apparel, such as a ski shoe or boot, provided with an energy source and an energy consuming device, such as a heater, and a mechanism for automatically terminating the energy supply as soon as the wearer removes the item of apparel. More specifically, the ski shoe or boot includes a shell base on which is journalled at least one movable upper element, such as a rear spoiler or a front cuff, to permit insertion and removal of the boot, wherein the boot includes a device controlling the energy supply of the consuming device. The boot further includes a linkage device between the movable upper element and the device controlling the energy supply so as to allow the energy supply of the consuming device only when the movable element of the boot is closed and to automatically cause the fuel supply to be shut off as soon as the movable element of the boot is moved toward the open position.

Alpine ski boot comprising a shell base (8) equipped with a walking sole (9) and a shaft (10), a rigid inner sole (11) which is movable vertically in relation to the bottom (12) of the shell base (8) and elements for closing said boot and for maintaining the user's foot in position. The boot comprises a device (13, 13') for transmitting pressures exerted by the foot, from the interior to the exterior of the boot, the device comprising the inner sole (11) hinged (14) to the bottom (12) of the shell base (8), and a support element (17) which is movable in translation across the walking sole (9) and which is subjected to the pressures transmitted by the inner sole (11) toward the top (7) of the ski (2).

Ski boot

A ski boot for use with a ski having a top surface includes a rigid shell base having an upper wedged thereon at an orientation angle alpha with respect to the normal to a mating surface carried by a tenon on the toe end of the base. A separate sole portion is provided having a recess complementary to the tenon for slidably receiving the same. The recess of the portion is wedged on a ski at an orientation angle beta with respect to the top surface of the ski when the shell base is connected to the ski by a binding. The global wedging angle of the boot is the algebraic sum of the orientation angle alpha and the wedging angle beta.

Ski boot having an interchangeable sole portion for controlling global

A boot liner, preferably for use with a ski boot of the rear-entry type, including an exterior envelope and an interior sock, having an injection cavity therebetween. Within the injection cavity, a filling product is designed to be injected for retaining the foot of the skier within the boot liner and within the ski boot within which it is adapted to be used. The exterior envelope and the interior sock are sealed along a lower peripheral edge defining a sole portion of the boot liner. The peripheral edge is engageable within a peripheral groove in the internal wall of the exterior envelope to thereby seal the injection cavity from the sole portion of the boot liner to thereby prevent the filling product from flowing beneath the sole of the foot positioned within the boot liner. The injection cavity is defined by respective surfaces of the external envelope and the interior sock. The surface of the interior sock adjacent the cavity is coated with a anti-friction film which is micro-porous for permitting the escape of residual air within the cavity as the filling product is injected therein, while retaining the filling product. Further, the surface or the exterior envelope adjacent the cavity includes a plurality of peripheral ribs which direct the flow of the filling product from the injection orifice toward remote portions of the cavity. Maintenance means and foot retention means can be used in conjunction with the boot liner of the present invention.

Ski boot liner

Ski boot with a device for transmitting flexion forces of the boot upper to the shell base, comprising a slide (8) movable in a transverse groove (7) at the lower forward edge of the cuff (5). The slide is adjustable through the intermediary of a push element (10) which causes displacement of a lock (12) in a rotational movement about an axis (30) perpendicular to the direction of displacement of the push element.

Apparatus is provided for wedging the heel of the foot of a skier in a ski boot. A rear portion of the upper of a ski boot is provided with a support element which includes at least one wedge which is adapted to selectively cooperate with a portion of the element. At least one opening or recess is provided along one surface of the support element; the recess is adapted to receive the wedge, and a plate covers at least a part of the recess. The wedge is generally U-shaped and has arms of different thicknesses with a spacing such that each of the arms is adapted to be positioned on a different side of the plate.

Apparatus for wedging the heel of the foot of a skier in a ski boot

Ski boot of the type comprising an inserted inner sole (2) resting on the actual boot sole (3) through the intermediary of at least two pairs of chocks respectively located at the front and the rear of the boot. Each chock is attached to the lower face of the inner sole by an attachment enabling it to be emplaced or removed by simple 90.degree. rotation of the chock about an axis perpendicular to the inner sole.

Ski boot with adjustable inner sole

A ski boot of the rear entry type having an upper and a shell base. The upper includes a front portion journalled on the shell base around a first journal and a rear portion journalled on the front portion around a second journal. The front portion of the upper includes two lateral extensions extending from the first journal to the heel of the shell base. A portion of the lateral extensions and/or the second journal engages an abutment on the shell base so as to rigidly link the upper to the shell base when the lower leg of the skier presses rearwardly on the the upper, thereby permitting the shell base to absorb this rearwardly directed force.

A rear entry ski boot including two flexible tightening elements, one of which tightens the upper of the boot on the lower leg of the skier and the other of which presses the foot downwardly and rearwardly into the boot so as to hold down the foot in the zone of the short perimeter of the heel of the foot. Also provided are two separate and independent manipulation levers, one of which is positioned above the other on the posterior portion of upper. Each lever is journalled around at least one transverse axis and each lever is connected to a different one of the two flexible tightening elements.

Rear entry ski boot

A ski boot having an upper which is partially journalled on a shell base. The upper includes a front and rear portion. The front portion or cuff is adapted to flex forward with respect to the shell base. Also provided is a control means for controlling the rigidity and flexional characteristics of the boot. The control means includes a flexion band having an arch which extends over the instep of the boot, and also includes two substantially horizontal lateral arms each attached to one end of the arch and extending over each lateral side of the shell base. Each lateral arm is connected to the bottom front portion of the cuff. The arch comprises a first deformation zone and the two lateral arms comprise second deformation zones. The flexion band also includes a means for maintaining a portion of the flexion band in a fixed position with respect the shell base. This means is positioned substantially in a zone in which the arch is connected to each lateral arm. In addition, the cuff also includes a groove, above the flexion band, which extends across the instep of the boot. A cursor is adapted to be displaced at any position along the groove to transmit the flexion force from the lower portion of the cuff to the flexion band.
