Method and installation for calcining cement raw meal in a calciner whereby fuel and a calciner oxidant having an oxygen content of at least 30% vol are introduced into the calciner so as to generate either an oxidant-lean zone or a fuel-lean zone in the calciner located between the lowermost fuel inlet level and the lowermost oxidant inlet level of the calciner, between 50% and 100% by weight of the raw meal being supplied to the calciner upstream of and/or within the oxidant-lean, respectively the fuel-lean zone.

Oxy-calcination process

A process for decarbonation of particles of raw meal, to be burnt in a clinkering kiln at a cement plant, the process includes: a) decarbonation of particles of raw meal, in a fluidized bed heat exchanger, the particles being suspended in a rising carrier gas including carbon dioxide, the fluidized bed heat exchanger having a solid heat carrier circulating counter-current relative to the carrier gas, to provide an effluent gas including carbon dioxide and decarbonated raw meal; b) separating the effluent gas and the decarbonated raw meal c) separating the effluent gas into a first and second part; cooling the first part of the effluent gas and recycling to provide carrier gas, d) isolating the second part of effluent gas e) recovering and re-heating the heat carrier and recirculating to step (a).

A process for reducing the carbon dioxide concentration of a carbon dioxide-containing gas which process includes, in a first stage, contacting the carbon dioxide-containing gas with a treating solution including an alkali metal carbonate and/or hydroxide and with a catalyst to promote the absorption of carbon dioxide to form a second solution including an alkali metal carbonate and bicarbonate and, in a second stage, contacting the second solution with a carbonatable silicate-containing material including an alkaline earth cation capable of forming an insoluble carbonate to produce silica and a solid carbonate including the cation and to regenerate a solution including alkali metal carbonate.

Process for removal of carbon dioxide from a gas stream

The invention relates to a hydraulic mineral composition which is characterized in that it comprises a vitreous or crystallised matrix based on magnesium and calcium silico-aluminates which represent at least 25 wt.-%, and preferably 30 wt.-%, of the composition, one or more mineral oxides and optionally one or more specific mineral halides which are selected from among the oxides and halides of Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Pb, Ba, Sr, P, S, Na, K, Zr, Mo, Be, Tl, As, Sn and Cd and which represent at least 5 wt.-% of the composition, at most 31 wt.-% alumina (AlO), less than 10 wt.-% ferrite, and less than 0.05 wt.-%, and preferably less than 0.01 wt.-%, C in relation to the weight of the composition.

A low cost steel desulphurating agent includes, compared with the total weight of the agent, at least 10% of SiO, at least 10% of C2S, and at least 35% of at least one of calcium aluminate or calcium silico-aluminate. The desulphurating agent can include, compared with the total weight of the agent, the following mineralogical phases: 10 to 60% of C2S, 0 to 50% of C3A, 0 to 50% of C2AS, 0to 70% of C12A7, and 0 to 60% of CA.
