In one example, a decaking system for 3D printing includes a platform to support multiple green parts in unbound powder surrounding the green parts, a decaking tool to remove unbound powder from around the green parts, a camera to photograph green parts on the platform as unbound powder is removed from around the green parts, and a controller operatively connected to the camera. The controller is programmed to detect a pattern of light intensity in the photographs and, in response to a determination a detected pattern matches a reference pattern, modulate or stop the decaking tool.

In examples, a method includes receiving print image data representing an image to be printed and selectively modifying at least one of an initial background print agent color plane and an initial image print agent color plane to determine a modified color plane.

There is provided a method and apparatus for monitoring conditioning of a rendering material in a storage structure, where the storage structure comprises a passive transceiver. The passive transceiver may generate a varying response signal where a strength of the varying signal can be monitored and used to determine a pre-conditioning parameter indicative of a condition of the storage structure.

In an example, a method of curing images on a substrate comprises identifying the substrate, determining a deformation temperature of the substrate based on the identifying, calculating a parameter for curing images on the substrate based on the deformation temperature and a thickness of the substrate using a fuzzy logic algorithm, and causing a printing apparatus to cure the images on the substrate based on the parameter.

Web server based color management hosted by a web server is provided enabling a production device to produce a print job with a similar color appearance as a reference device. The web server receives a production device color management profile and a reference device color management profile. The web server creates an output color management profile based on the color management profile of the production device and the color management profile of the reference device. A pump for the transfer a predetermined total volume of fluid from a pump inlet to a pump outlet in a unit of time is calibrated by deriving a count of the number of times a volume of the fluid is transferred from a pump inlet to a pump outlet in a unit of time; and adjusting the number of times the volume is transferred in a unit of time until the derived count is substantially equal to a predetermined threshold value.

Described herein are systems and methods for processing an image such as a halftone image. For example, in some embodiments, pixels of an image are checked to see if when printed would be represented by a given output. Pixels of the image that match defined values are replaced with pixels that are represented by a different set of outputs. This latter set of outputs may be selected to optimize one or more imaging attributes.

Systems and methods for replacing cells of an image based on some pre-determined metric are described herein. For example, systems and methods described herein may improve the functioning of a standard imaging system. For example, the systems and methods described herein may be used to post-process existing images in an imaging system based on one or more pre-determined metrics and improve the halftone images according to those pre-determined metrics.

In one example, a print job is received. The print job includes a first plot to be printed on a first side of a media, and a second plot to be printed on a second side of the media in registration with the first plot. The first plot and a fiducial mark are caused to print on the first side, the fiducial mark being a known distance from the first plot and including an identifier for the second plot. In response to detecting the identifier via a sensor and measuring a distance to the fiducial mark to discern a reference for printing the second plot, the second plot is caused to print on the second side in registration with the first plot.

A source image is converted to a printable image that is constrained to a bi-directional gamut achievable by both a forward-first print mode and a reverse-first print mode. While the printable image is printed, a print system alternates between forward and reverse passes. The print system uses a forward-first color map during the forward passes and a different reverse-first color map during the reverse passes.
