A two-component solvent-based coating composition comprising a component A comprising an autoxidizable resin comprising unsaturated fatty acids and a metal-ligand complex as drying catalyst, wherein the metal is manganese, vanadium or iron; and a component B comprising a (meth)acrylate compound and a thiol compound, wherein the (meth)acrylate compound is a poly (meth)acryloyl functional ester of (meth)acrylic acid and a polyhydric alcohol or a poly (meth)acryloyl functional dimer of such ester, wherein component B is free of drying catalyst, wherein component A is free of a compound comprising a thiol group and of a compound comprising a (meth)acryloyl functional group, and wherein the coating composition is free of cobalt.

Two-component solvent-based coating composition

A drier for air-drying an auto-oxidizable resin composition, said drier comprising: 1,4,7-trialkyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (L); a manganese salt having the general formula Mn[X], wherein anion X is selected from PF, SbF, AsF, BF, B(CF), Cl, Br, I, NO, or RCOOin which case n=2, or the anion X is SOin which case n=1, and wherein Ris C-Calkyl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, C-C) aryl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, or a polymeric residue; wherein the 1,4,7-trialkyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (L) is present in the mixture in an amount such that the molar ratio of Mn:L is at least 1.25:1 and preferably at least 1.5:1.

Drier for auto-oxidisable coating compositions

A mixture for use as a drier for air-drying an auto-oxidizable resin composition, said mixture comprising : 1,4,7-trialkyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (L); and, a manganese salt having the general formula Mn[X], wherein anion X is selected from PF, AsF, BF, B(CF), CI, Br, I, NO, or RCOOin which case n=2, or the anion X is SOin which case n=1, and wherein Ris C-Calkyl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, C-Caryl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, or a polymeric residue; wherein the 1,4,7-trialkyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (L) is present in the mixture in an amount such that the molar ratio of L:Mn is at least 1.25:1 and more preferably at least 1.5:1.

Coating composition comprising an oxidatively drying binder and a reactive diluent. The diluent is an ester of a polyunsaturated alcohol, the ester being without chain-end double bonds. The alcohol can selected from the group comprising geraniol, nerol, citronellol, and farnesol. The ester can be a di-ester of a dicarboxylic acid, such as malonic acid or a polyester comprising at least one terminal malonate group.

Coating composition comprising a reactive diluent of polyunsaturated alcohol ester

Coating composition comprising an oxidatively drying binder, such as an alkyd, and a reactive diluent. The diluent is an ester of malonic acid and an unsaturated mono-alcohol, e.g., geraniol, farnesol, citronellol and/or nerol.
