The present invention is a linear actuation system comprising a reversible screw type linear actuator, equipped with at least one reversible electrical motor system and energy storage. The energy storage is charged by linear actuation system functioning as a generator when a mobile rod of the linear actuator is moved by heave and is discharged when the mobile rod is moved by activation of an electric motor of the linear actuation system motor.

The present invention relates to a system and to a method for storing energy in form of compressed air, having an assembly of connected tubes forming a storage volume, which are confined in a pressure-resistant thermally-insulating tank. The storage system according to the invention comprises a system for storing and releasing the heat of the compressed air to increase the storage system efficiency.

Method for determining the composition of a homogeneous fluid, for example a petroleum effluent on flow, an emulsion consisting of water and oil, or a foam consisting of oil and gas. The attenuation and the phase shift of microwave beams that have traversed a fluid of unknown composition with paths of different lengths are measured (stage A). Two equations approaching the measured values are determined, the first equation giving a relation between the attenuation and the length of the path, the second equation giving a relation between the phase shift and the length of the path (stage C). Then the composition of the fluid is determined by comparing the two equations with pairs of equations stored in form of databases, each pair of equations corresponding to a fluid of known composition (stage D).

A method of determining the composition of a multiphase fluid, such as a flowing petroleum effluent, an emulsion of water and oil, or a foam of oil and gas is disclosed. A first part comprises determining a model expressing the attenuation and the phase shift of a microwave beam as a function of the volume fractions and the permittivities of the various phases. Then, a second part comprises determining the volume fractions of the various phases that make up a multiphase fluid by minimizing the distance between the measured attenuation and phase shift pair and the attenuation and phase shift pair given by the previously determined model.

A method for measuring the velocity of at least a liquid phase and at least a gas phase of a multiphase medium flowing in a volume is disclosed. A first wave is transmitted at a given frequency f1 selected as a function of the liquid phase through at least part of the multiphase medium. At least one parameter, characteristic of a part of the first wave which is disturbed and diffused by the flowing medium is measured. A second wave is transmitted at a given frequency f2 selected as a function of the liquid phase through at least part of the multiphase medium. At least one parameter, characteristic of a part of the second wave which is disturbed and diffused by the flowing medium is measured. At least one measured parameter is processed using the Doppler effect. A velocity field of the liquid phase and/or the gas phase is determined for a given section of the volume in response to the processed at least one parameter.

Device and method for measuring velocity profiles in a multiphase fluid

A device and method for determining the proportion of the phases of a multiphase fluid is disclosed. The device includes microwave emission and reception devices which are suited to the composition variation of the multiphase fluid, a processor and control for determining directly, from measurements of amplitude and phase shift of a beam crossing the multiphase medium and a rate of occupation of liquid phase and/or a gas phase for a given section of the pipe. The flow rate of each of the phases is determined.
