In a system for capturing a series of images of a scene comprising an image capture device having a matrix of flux detectors which is oriented along a sighting axis (z), comprising a stabilizing module which stabilizes the sighting axis of the captured images, the sighting axis being instilled with a defined, cyclic, motion, the following steps are applied to a series of successive images (N) captured during a cycle. Steps /i/ and /ii/ are repeated from the first image captured up to the last image captured of the series and an intermediate image (I) is obtained &#x2022;&#x2212;/i/ registering a subsequent image (Ni+i) on a preceding image (N) as a function of the defined motion; &#x2212;/ii/ correcting spatial noise relating to the flux detectors and affecting the common part of the images. Next, a corrected captured image of the scene is obtained by applying a convolution product between the intermediate image and a correction point spreading function (PSF) which is determined on the basis of the defined motion.

Correction of captured and stabilized images

A process for the electronic stabilization of the images of a scene of a snapshot capturing apparatus of an imaging system in which, in a terrestrial reference frame, the images of the scene captured by the apparatus are filtered in a low-pass filter, so as to retain only the low spatial frequencies thereof, and the optical flow equation is solved to determine the rotations to be imposed on the images in order to stabilize them with regard to the previous images is provided. The invention also relates to a process for correcting offsets in grey levels of a snapshot capturing apparatus of an imaging system whose images are stabilized according to the process of the invention, where the calculation of the offsets is deduced from the steps of the stabilization process.

The video camera comprises a detector having a two-dimensional matrix of photosensitive sites that accumulate charge, the sites being placed in an image plane of an optical system and being connected to a circuit for periodically transferring the accumulated charges at a determined frequency. A deviation member is interposed on the path of light towards the matrix and enables said path to be deflected about a nominal direction. A unit for periodically controlling the deviation means causes the image to be deviated in two dimensions, in a first determined cycle each time through a determined fraction of the pitch step size so as to perform space oversampling, and, in a second cycle, each time through a full pitch step size, which second cycle is a multiple of the first. A processor unit calculates the gain differences and the response offsets between the sites by performing comparisons therebetween.

Video camera having deviating means for improving resolution

The device has a stabilization mirror that is angularly steerable about two mutually orthogonal axes, and an optical system for splitting an incoming light beam into at least two channels corresponding to different wavelengths. The stabilization mirror is steerable about a first axis (L) on internal equipment that is itself steerable about a second axis (I) orthogonal to the first and intersecting in an assembly that is steerable on a support about a third axis (C). A servo-control system has a gyroscopic sensor tied to the mirror and controlling steering motors. The system further includes, upstream from the stabilization mirror, and on the path of an incoming beam, a purely catoptric optical system that is stabilized, giving the inlet beam a size on the mirror that is smaller than the size of the inlet pupil of the system.
