A gas blower device for blowing gas onto a surface of a traveling strip includes a plenum in the form of a hollow box for containing gas and comprising two side surfaces, a back surface and a front surface opposite to the back surface. The front surface having a profile of convex type symmetry with respect to a mid-plane perpendicular to the plane of the strip, so that a middle ridge of the front surface is located at the smallest distance from the plane of the strip. The front surface further presenting multiple tubular nozzles protruding at the front surface and having a gas outlet orifice facing in use the traveling strip. All the outlet orifices are essentially in a plane parallel to the strip plane. The gas blower device further includes a gas intake tube for feeding the plenum with gas.

Cooling device for blowing gas onto a surface of a traveling strip

The invention relates to a method of improving the cooling of a blown-gas cooling chamber or of a blown-air cooling section in a line for heat treating steel and/or aluminum, and/or of improving the quality of products for treatment by reducing the vibration generated by the cooling, in which jets of gas or air are projected against each of the faces of the strip traveling through said section or chamber. In accordance with the invention, the jets () of gas or air are emitted from blow tubes () fitted to tubular nozzles () arranged at a distance transversely on either side of the travel direction () of the strip (), said jets being directed towards the corresponding face of the strip while being inclined simultaneously essentially towards the edges of said strip in a plane perpendicular to the panel of the strip and to the travel direction () of said strip, and towards the upstream or downstream end of the strip in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the strip and parallel to the travel direction () of said strip.

Method and apparatus for limiting the vibration of steel or aluminum strips in a blown-gas or -air cooling zones

Apparatus which eliminates the risk of forming wrinkles on a strip conveyed through a cooling furnace of a continuous heat-treatment plant, especially an annealing or galvanizing furnace, through which the strip is conveyed by rolls, the latter being heated by contact with the strip over its width, the risk of forming wrinkles occuring during a change of strip width when the following strip is wider, the latter consequently passing over rolls that have preserved the imprint of the thermal expansion due to the previous strip, wherein the heating elements are positioned close to and beneath the rolls, over the entire width of the furnace, and, on the opposite side of the rolls from the said heating elements, panels are positioned which are aligned so as, together with the wall of the furnace, to form a warm chamber, the continuously moving strip serving as a heat shield so that only that part of the roll which is not covered by the strip is heated by the said heating elements.

Process for the continuous heat treatment of a metal strip, the latter travelling through a furnace, which is thermally insulated, and in a protective atmosphere; the said furnace consisting of at least one section, for heating, for temperature hold and for cooling; the said strip being guide by a plurality of rollers arranged especially in the lower part and in the upper part of the said sections, so as to form a plurality of runs, wherein the strip passes through at least one partial or total isolating device positioned within at least one section or between two sections, so as to ensure different heat transfer properties on the strip compared with at least one other adjacent section having a different atmosphere, by adjusting the composition of the atmosphere consisting of a gas mixture whose hydrogen or helium content exceeds 5% and more particularly 15%, in order to allow differentiation of the thermomechanical properties of the atmosphere.

Process and apparatus for the continuous heat treatment of a metal strip

Method of continuous heat-treatment of metal strips, wherein the strip which is to be heat-treated passes through a furnace which is thermally isolated and in a protective atmosphere, consisting of heating, holding and cooling sections; the said strip is guided by a plurality of return rolls situated in the upper and lower parts of the said sections and thus forms a plurality of lengths and they pass in front of cooling and traditional heating (generally produced by a radiation source or using naked flames), and induction means, the latter are placed upstream of at least one traditional heating section and are used combined and simultaneously with the other heating means in order to compensate for the variations in the heat-treatment parameters.
