A hydrokinetic torque coupling device includes a casing having opposite sidewalls and an outer wall extending between and connecting the opposite sidewalls, an impeller coaxial aligned with the rotational axis, a piston engagement member extending substantially radially inward from and non-moveable relative to the outer wall of the casing, and a turbine-piston coaxially aligned with and hydrodynamically drivable by the impeller. The turbine-piston includes a turbine-piston shell having a turbine-piston flange with an engagement surface that is movable axially toward and away from an engagement surface of the piston engagement member to position the hydrokinetic torque coupling device into and out of a lockup mode in which the turbine-piston is mechanically locked to and non-rotatable relative to the piston engagement member.

Hydrokinetic torque coupling device having turbine-piston lockup clutch, and related methods

A hydrokinetic torque coupling device features a casing () including an impeller shell (), a casing shell (), and an intermediate casing component () connecting the impeller and casing shells. The intermediate casing component () includes a casing wall portion and a piston engagement portion () extending inward from and being non-rotatable relative to the casing wall portion. A hydrokinetic torque coupling device features a casing including a casing shell and an impeller casing shell, an impeller including the impeller shell, a turbine-piston including a turbine-piston shell, and a restriction element. The turbine-piston shell includes a turbine-piston flange and partitions the interior volume of the casing into two chambers. The turbine-piston flange has an engagement surface movable axially toward and away from an engagement surface of a piston engagement portion of the impeller shell to position the hydrokinetic torque coupling device into and out of a lockup mode. The restriction element is configured to restrict fluid flow and create a pressure drop between the first and second chambers.

A hydrokinetic torque coupling device includes an impeller, a casing having a first engagement surface, a damper assembly, a turbine-piston and a drive-clutch component non-moveably attached to the turbine-piston and having a second engagement surface. The turbine-piston is axially displaceable relative to the casing to move the second engagement surface axially towards and away from the first engagement surface for positioning the hydrokinetic torque coupling device respectively into and out of a lockup mode in which the first and second engagement surfaces frictionally interlock with one another to mechanically lock the casing non-rotatably relative to the input part of the damper assembly. The drive-clutch component is configured to engage and rotationally drive a torsional vibration damper.

A friction clutch for a motor vehicle having a clutching friction member and clutching mechanism with a cover and a clutch thrust plate. A resilient clutch member and disengaging gear is disposed between the rear surface of the thrust plate and the cover for moving the clutch thrust plate towards the cover. A torsion damper assembly for an automotive clutch has a first part comprising a hub, a second part comprising two hub plates and a third part, the three parts being coaxial and rotatable independently of each other against springs acting over at least a predetermined portion of the angular displacement. The assembly has two sets of additional springs. These are mounted in recesses in the hub plates and in the hub, with their recesses facing each other in the region of a loose coupling defined between the hub and the hub plates. The additional springs associated with one hub plate are mounted in one of the recesses of that hub plate and of the hub, with a different circumferential clearance from the clearance with which the springs associated with the other hub plate are mounted in the corresponding recesses of that other hub plate and of the hub. The two hub plates are joined together for simultaneous rotation by structure which also act as phasing device for setting the loose coupling between the hub and each hub plate in its correct circumferential relationship.

A clutch control mechanism, for manoeuvring an actuating member such as a clutch release bearing, comprises a support member, a tubular driving member, a tubular driven member having a mounting means and, between the driving member and the driven member, camming means of the helical ramp type. The said mounting means comprises a first sleeve adapted to penetrate into the interior of the actuating member and to carry internally one of the cams, while the driving member penetrates into the interior of the sleeve and carries the other cam, the sleeve having an external radial flange, which acts as an abutment for the clutch release bearing and which is coupled in rotation to the support member.
