A method of using a cryotherapeutic system in accordance with a particular embodiment includes advancing an elongate shaft of a catheter toward a treatment location within a body lumen of a human patient and directing a flow of refrigerant toward a cryotherapeutic element at a distal end portion of the shaft. The directed refrigerant is expanded to cause cooling within a balloon of the cryotherapeutic element. The pressure within the balloon is monitored and its rate of change calculated. The rate of change is then processed using different feedback loops during different monitoring windows of a treatment cycle. The individual feedback loops include an upper and a lower threshold and are configured to cause the flow of refrigerant to the cryotherapeutic element to stop if the rate of change falls outside a range between the upper and the lower threshold.

Monitoring and controlling internally administered cryotherapy

A tissue-removing catheter for removing tissue in a body lumen includes an elongate body having an axis and proximal and distal end portions spaced apart from one another along the axis. A turbine is fixed to the elongate body and is disposed at an intermediate position between the proximal and distal end portions of the elongate body. A rotatable tissue-removing element is at the distal end portion of the elongate body and is operatively coupled to the turbine such that the turbine imparts rotation of the tissue-removing element. The tissue-removing element removes the tissue from the body lumen as the tissue-removing element is rotated by the turbine.

Methods for treating a patient using therapeutic renal neuromodulation and associated devices, systems, and methods are disclosed herein. One aspect of the present technology, for example, is directed to a catheter apparatus including an elongated shaft defined by a braid embedded within a polymer. The braid can include one or more thermocouple assemblies intertwined with a braiding element. The thermocouple assemblies can be coupled to one or more electrodes at a distal portion of the shaft.

Neuromodulation catheters and associated systems and methods

Neuromodulation cryotherapeutic devices and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. A cryotherapeutic device configured in accordance with a particular embodiment of the present technology can include an elongated shaft having distal portion and a supply lumen along at least a portion of the shaft. The shaft can be configured to locate the distal portion intravascularly at a treatment site proximate a renal artery or renal ostium. The supply lumen can be configured to receive a liquid refrigerant. The cryotherapeutic device can further include a cooling assembly at the distal portion of the shaft. The cooling assembly can include an applicator in fluid communication with the supply lumen and configured to deliver cryotherapeutic cooling to nerves proximate the target site when the cooling assembly is in a deployed state.
