System and methods are described that illustrate how to more accurately determine at least one state variable of a vehicle using imaging of a travel way line. Imaging can be used to determine an angle between a longitudinal axis of the travel way line and a longitudinal axis of the vehicle, a shortest distance between the center axis and a reference point on or in the vehicle, and corresponding errors. The determined angle, the determined distance, and the corresponding errors can be used to more accurately determine the at least one state variable.

According to certain aspects of the disclosure, a computer-implemented method may be used for rotorcraft track and balance. The method may include capturing one or more images of at least one rotating blades of a rotorcraft and analyzing the one or more images of the at least one rotating blades to determine blade information. Additionally, the method may include determining a location of the at least one rotating blades in the one or more images based on the blade information and calculating blade position information based on the determined location of the at least one rotating blade and a parameter of a user device capturing the one or more images. Additionally, the method may include displaying the blade position information to the user device and displaying instructions on one or more adjustments to the at least one rotating blades of the rotorcraft based on the blade position information.

Systems and methods to perform track and balance for rotorcrafts

In some examples, a processor is configured to predict the presence of ice crystals (e.g., high altitude ice crystals) in a volume of airspace based on radar reflectivity values and one or more other types of information indicative of weather conditions in the volume of airspace, such as one or more of: ambient air temperature and altitude. For example, the processor may predict the ice crystals presence by at least estimating the iced water content level within a volume of airspace of interest based on radar reflectivity values for the volume of airspace (e.g., stored as in a three-dimensional buffer) and other information indicative of weather conditions of the volume of airspace. The processor may estimate the iced water content level using a model that relates the information indicative of weather conditions in and around the volume of interest to iced water content in the atmosphere.

Prediction of ice crystal presence in a volume of airspace

Methods for radar altimeter integrity monitoring are provided. One method comprises obtaining one or more GNSS measurements, or one or more hybridized GNSS/INS measurements, in an earth-centered-earth-fixed (ECEF) coordinate frame for a vehicle; obtaining one or more altitude measurements from one or more radar altimeters; transforming the altitude measurements into the ECEF coordinate frame using a terrain map and a GNSS or hybridized GNSS/INS based position estimate with ensured integrity; determining a full solution estimate of position for the vehicle based on the transformed altitude measurements, and the GNSS or hybridized GNSS/INS measurements; determining one or more sub-solution estimates of position based on a subset of the transformed altitude measurements, and the GNSS or hybridized GNSS/INS measurements; comparing the full solution estimate with the sub-solution estimates using statistical analysis; and determining an altitude protection level based on a probability of hazardous misleading information and a probability of false detection.

Systems and methods for 3D data based navigation using descriptor vectors are provided. In at least one embodiment, a method for identifying corresponding segments in different frames of data comprises identifying a first segment set in a first frame in multiple frames acquired by at least one sensor, and identifying a second segment set in a second frame in the multiple frames. The method also comprises calculating a first and second set of descriptor vectors, wherein the first and second sets of descriptor vectors comprise a descriptor vector for each segment in the respective first and second segment set, wherein a descriptor vector describes an indexed plurality of characteristics; and identifying corresponding segments by comparing the first set of descriptor vectors against the second set of descriptor vectors, wherein the corresponding segments describe characteristics of the same feature in the environment.

Systems and methods for 3D data based navigation using descriptor vectors

Systems and methods for 3D data based navigation using a watershed method are provided. In at least one embodiment, a method for segmenting three-dimensional frames of data comprises acquiring at least one frame from at least one sensor, wherein the at least one frame provides a three-dimensional description of an environment containing the at least one sensor; and identifying a surface in the at least one frame. The method further comprises computing at least one residual map for the at least one frame based on the orthogonal distance from data points on the surface to at least one polynomial surface fitted to the surface; and segmenting the at least one residual map by performing a watershed algorithm on the residual map.
