Described herein are technologies that utilize full duplex gateway terminals in satellite networks with half duplex user equipment. The disclosed scheduling technologies incorporate the knowledge of the propagation delay between a gateway terminal and each UE in communication with the gateway terminal. Based on this propagation delay, a scheduler can allocate DL and UL time slots in a scheduling frame in a way that avoids allocating overlapping DL and UL time slots at each UE.

Using time division duplexing systems in frequency division duplexing networks

Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) is a novel modulation scheme with significant benefits for 5G systems. The fundamental theory behind OTFS is presented in this paper as well as its benefits. We start with a mathematical description of the doubly fading delay-Doppler channel and develop a modulation that is tailored to this channel. We model the time varying delay-Doppler channel in the time-frequency domain and derive a new domain (the OTFS domain) where we show that the channel is transformed to a time invariant one and all symbols see the same SNR. We explore aspects of the modulation like delay and Doppler resolution, and address design and implementation issues like multiplexing multiple users and evaluating complexity. Finally we present some performance results where we demonstrate the superiority of OTFS.

Orthogonal time frequency space modulation techniques

A method, system and computer program for transmitting at least two payloads in a downstream traffic phase of a time-division duplex (TDD) cycle with a single preamble from a headend followed by concatenated payloads without intervening preambles, whereby the payloads are ranked by increasing modulation profiles. The preamble, and concatenated and ordered set of payloads are then transmitted to two or more predetermined customer premise equipments (CPEs).

Progressive modulation for downstream access

A particular overall architecture for transmission over a bonded channel system consisting of two interconnected MoCA (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) 2.0 SoCs (Systems on a Chip) and a method and apparatus for the case of a 'bonded' channel network. With a bonded channel network, the data is divided into two segments, the first of which is transported over a primary channel and the second of which is transported over a secondary channel.

Method and apparatus for LDPC transmission over a channel bonded link

An Orthogonal Time Frequency Space Modulation (OTFS) modulation scheme achieving multiple access by multiplexing multiple signals at the transmitter-side performs allocation of transmission resources to a first signal and a second signal, combining and converting to a transmission format via OTFS modulation and transmitting the signal over a communication channel. At the receiver, multiplexed signals are recovered using orthogonality property of the basis functions used for the multiplexing at the transmitter.

Multiple access using orthogonal time frequency space modulation

Techniques for performing channel estimation in an orthogonal time, frequency and space (OTFS) communication system include receiving a wireless signal comprising a data signal portion and a pilot signal portion in which the pilot signal portion includes multiple pilot signals multiplexed together in the OTFS domain, performing two-dimensional channel estimation in a time-frequency domain based on a minimum mean square error (MMSE) optimization criterion, and recovering information bits using a channel estimate obtained from the two-dimensional channel estimation.

Channel acquisition using orthogonal time frequency space modulated pilot signals

Systems and methods are provided for compensating for mechanical acceleration at a reference oscillator. A reference oscillator provides an oscillator output signal and an accelerometer on a same platform as the reference oscillator, such that mechanical acceleration at the reference oscillator is detected at the accelerometer to produce a measured acceleration. A filter assembly, having an associated set of filter weights, receives the measured acceleration from the accelerometer and provides a tuning control signal responsive to the measured acceleration to a frequency reference associated with the system. An adaptive weighting component receives the oscillator output signal of the reference oscillator and an external signal that is provided from a source external to the platform and adjusts the set of filter weights for the filter assembly based on a comparison of the external signal and the oscillator output signal.

Adaptive microphonics noise cancellation

In a transmitter apparatus, a known reference signal is superimposed on top of a data signal that is typically not known a priori to a receiver and the combined signal is transmitted. At a receiver, an iterative channel estimation and equalization technique is used to recover the reference signal and the unknown data signal. In the initial iteration, the known reference signal is recovered by treating the data signal as noise. Subsequent iterations are used to improve estimation of received reference signal and the unknown data signal.
