A ball screw includes a ball screw spindle, and a ball screw nut extending about the ball screw spindle. The ball screw nut has internal threading that corresponds with external threading of the ball screw spindle to define a raceway for rolling elements. The ball screw nut includes one or more bore holes extending from the exterior surface of the ball screw nut, and partially into the ball screw nut. The bore hole defines an end stop. A spring has one end that contacts the end stop, and another end that contacts one of the rolling elements.

A ball-screw actuator includes a screw nut having a metal core and an over-molded plastic outer shell. The plastic outer shell includes features which would be expensive to manufacture in a single piece metal screw nut, such as an anti-rotation feature, an axial position control feature, and a lateral position control feature. The anti-rotation feature may take the form of an axial groove or of an axial ridge.

A ball screw assembly is disclosed herein. The assembly includes a nut having an outer raceway, and at least one notch. A spindle extends inside of the nut, and the spindle defines an inner raceway. A ball-spring assembly includes a plurality of balls supported between the outer raceway and the inner raceway, and at least one reset spring engaged against at least one ball of the plurality of balls. At least one end-stop component is engaged against a terminal end of the ball-spring assembly and positioned within the at least one notch. A radially inner side of the at least one end-stop component abuts the spindle. A method of forming the nut for a ball screw assembly is also disclosed herein.

A ball screw drive comprises a spindle that includes a torque input portion and a body portion having a ball-screw drive inner raceway, wherein the body portion and torque input portion are met by a support bearing portion of the spindle that includes a support-bearing inner raceway grooved into a surface of the spindle, an outer ring including a support-bearing outer raceway and forming a channel with the support-bearing inner raceway of the spindle, and one or more support-bearing rolling elements arranged in the channel to contact the support-bearing inner raceway grooved into the surface the spindle.

A ball screw, including: a spindle supported for rotation around an axis of rotation; a ball nut radially disposed around the spindle, axially displaceable with respect to the spindle, and including a helical protrusion, the helical protrusion defining a helical groove; a plurality of balls disposed in the helical groove and in contact with the spindle; a reset spring including a portion located in the helical groove and an end portion extending past the helical groove in a circumferential direction around the axis of rotation; and a retaining device directly connected to the ball nut and arranged to limit displacement of the end portion of the reset spring in a first axial direction parallel to the axis of rotation. For a first circumferential position of the spindle around the axis of rotation, the reset spring urges the plurality of balls in a second axial direction, opposite the first axial direction.
