The present invention provides an anti-kickback for arresting movement of a rail accommodated within an elongate channel. The anti-kickback device includes a slide member arranged to slide along a slide surface between an extended position and a retracted position. The device further includes a resilient member which biases the slide member along the slide surface. The slide member, when in the extended position, is designed to urge the rail into abutment with a wall of the channel to arrest movement of the rail accommodated within the channel. The device further includes a manually operable button coupled to the slide member to enable user-operated movement of the slide member towards the retracted position and a lock mechanism for holding the slide member in the retracted position.

Anti-kickback device

A string trimmer comprising an elongate shaft; a cutting head rotatably mounted on one end of the elongate shaft; at least one cutting member which extends from the cutting head and a barrier which is capable of being used by an operator to move vegetation away from a path swept out by the cutting member when it rotate characterized in that the barrier is pivotally mounted about a single pivot axis on the string trimmer and, when the cutting head is rotating in a flat position is capable of pivoting from a position above the path swept out by the cutting member to a position below the path swept out by the cutting member without passing through the path swept out by the cutting member.

Pivotal plant protector

A string trimmer comprising an elongate shaft and a cutting head rotatably mounted on one end of the shaft. A cutting member which extends from the cutting head. An attachment is pivotally mounted on the string trimmer by at least one pivot mechanism, wherein the pivot mechanism comprises a latching mechanism about which the attachment is capable of latchably rotating relative to the string trimmer. The attachment is a barrier which is capable of being used by an operator to move vegetation away from a path swept out by the cutting member.

Plant protector

A string trimmer having an elongate shaft, a cutting head rotatably mounted on one end of the elongate shaft, at least one cutting member which extends from the cutting head, and a barrier which is capable of being used by an operator to move vegetation away from a path swept out by the cutting member when it rotates. The barrier is in the shape of a truncated sphere, and forms a broad band. There is further provided a guard on the string trimmer mounted on the elongate shaft which surrounds part of the rear of the path swept out by the cutting member as it rotates, wherein the barrier is mounted on the guard.

A string trimmer comprising an elongate shaft, a cutting head rotatably mounted on one end of the elongate shaft wherein the head comprises: a base; a cap; a spool rotatable mounted in the cap; an autofeed mechanism mounted within the cap and which interacts between the cap and the spool; wherein the cap is releasably attachable to the base. The cap clips into the base. The cap comprises a first part, and the base comprises a second part wherein two resilient deformable arms having ribs formed on the end of the arms are mounted on one part and which engage with corresponding holes formed in the other part.

A string trimmer comprising a body wherein a cavity is formed within the body and which is adapted to store at least one cutting member for the string trimmer.

String trimmer

A device for trimming the edge of a lawn device comprises a rotary cutter which, in use, rotates about an axis which is substantially horizontal with respect to the ground. The device further comprises a guide which is mounted to extend, in use, in a substantially vertical downward direction to a depth greater than or substantially equal to the depth to which the rotary cutter extends. The guide is preferably mounted to extend, in use, in a substantially vertical downward direction to a depth greater than or substantially equal to the depth to which the rotary cutter extends.

Vegetation cutter with guide

A shaft assembly a tool comprises a first shaft part and a second shaft part and is adapted to be arranged between a handle and a working head of the tool. The first shaft part is slideable and/or rotatable within the second shaft part, and a pin is trapped within the first shaft part is adapted to engage with a co-operating receiving device in the second shaft part. The shaft assembly is adjustable to allow relative movement between the head and the handle assembly in the radial and/or the axial direction, and the cable follows a path within the shaft assembly which path is defined and which is variable depending on the extent of extension and/or rotation of the head relative to the handle assembly.
