The present invention relates to a process for adhering a textile material to an elastomer, the process comprising the steps of pretreating the textile material with at least one polyester of an &#x3b1;-&#x3b2;-unsaturated carboxylic acid, contacting the pretreated textile material with an unvulcanized elastomer, and vulcanizing the product obtained. The present invention additionally encompasses an elastomer article obtainable by this process and also the use of a polyester of an &#x3b1;-&#x3b2;-unsaturated carboxylic acid for improving the adhesion of a textile material to an elastomer.

A method for producing a sheet-like composite fabric material, in particular a rubberized fabric or a fabric provided with a polymer preparation, for covering drive belts, the composite fabric material comprising a textile integrated in a matrix of elastomeric material, preferably at least one fabric layer integrated in a rubber matrix, the textile or the fabric layer and the elastomeric material being introduced into a gap between a band and a cylindrical molding wheel and molded to form a composite material between the band and the molding wheel at a temperature below the vulcanization temperature, the band looping around the molding wheel at a looping angle under pressure. Likewise disclosed is a drive belt with a covering of composite material produced according to the invention.

The invention relates to an elastomeric product which contains a radical cross-linked rubber mixture, especially drive belts. For the production of elastomeric products, especially drive belts, having a long service life and producible in an environmentally friendly way, the rubber mixture contains (a) 0.1 to 50 phr of at least one carboxylic acid, which is at least &#x3b1;,&#x3b2; unsaturated and &#x3b3;,&#x3b4; unsaturated and preferably has at least one allylic hydrogen atom; and, (b) 0.1 to 50 phr of at least one salt-former as co-activator.

A rubber composition which contains a rubber mixture that can be vulcanized with a vulcanizing agent, which includes at least one rubber component, at least one filler having nucleophilic groups, gel particles comprising a rubber, having a particle size between about 3&times;10,and about 1&times;10,m and a swelling index in toluene of about 1 to about 15 and whose surface has electrophilic centers, and a substance acting as a coupling agent between the filler having nucleophilic groups and the additional filler, the substance acting as a coupling agent having the following structure: X&mdash;R,&mdash;Si&mdash;(R,),, wherein X is a nucleophilic group, R,is an alkyl group having up to about 6 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, and R,may be the same as or different from each other and from R,and is an alkyl or alkoxy group having up to 6 carbon atoms and at least one of R,is an alkoxy group. The rubber composition has improved hysteresis behavior in the vulcanized state so that with the use of this rubber composition in tires, the rolling resistance is reduced and the wet slippage behavior is improved in relation to conventional rubber compositions. A method of adding and blending the rubber composition as well as a composition useful for tire treads and vehicle tires containing the composition are disclosed.

A rubber composition, which contains a rubber mixture that can be vulcanized with a vulcanizing agent, which includes at least one rubber component, at least one filler, gel particles comprising a rubber, having a particle size between about 3.times.10.sup.-9 and about 1.times.10.sup.-6 m and a swelling index in toluene of about 1 to about 15 and whose surface has electrophilic centers, and a substance which acts as a coupling agent between the gel particles and which has the structure A--R--A, wherein A is a nucleophilic group, and R is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group.
