Thermoplastic polymeric materials with high IR absorption are described, containing at least one inorganic metal phosphate of the general formula Me(PO)(OH), wherein Me consists of one or more elements from the group Cu, Fe, Mn, Sb, Zn, Ti, Ni, Co, V, Mg, Bi, Be, Al, Ce, Ba, Sr, Na, K, Ge, Ga, Ca, Cr, In or Sn, and wherein x and y are whole numbers and x=(1 . . . 18), y=(1 . . . 12) and z=(0.2 . . . 10), and the inorganic metal phosphate may optionally also contain water of crystallization.

A process is described for the production of a catalyst preparation, in which the catalyst containing at least one inorganic compound which is solid under standard conditions is comminuted by means of a dispersion unit into particles having a maximum average particle size dof 2 &#x3bc;m, preferably a maximum of 1 &#x3bc;m, implemented in accordance with DIN 66141 and DIN 66144, and is distributed at a concentration of from 1 to 50 wt. % (relative to the finished catalyst preparation) in a liquid.

A process is described for the modification of polymer melts by means of finely divided inorganic solid particles (melt modification process), in which a powdery additive which contains the inorganic solid particles with a maximum particle size of 1 &#x3bc;m embedded in finely divided form in a matrix of an organic substance, the organic substance containing one or more of the substances from the group consisting of polyols, polyglycols, polyethers, dicarboxylic acids and derivatives thereof, AH salt, caprolactam, paraffins, phosphoric acid esters, hydroxycarboxylic acid esters and cellulose, is incorporated into the polymer.

Method for adding inorganic additives to finished polymer melts

A processing aid for further processing in synthetic polymers comprising finely divided, inorganic pigments and/or fillers. Such processing aids can homogeneously be dispersed with little effort when the same are embedded in an organic substance.
