An electrical connector assembly includes a cage having an upper wall, a lower wall, and side walls that extend from the upper wall to the lower wall. The side walls have exterior sides. The cage includes an interior cavity and a divider that extends between the side walls and divides the interior cavity into at least two internal compartments. The cage includes a front end that is open to the internal compartments. The side walls have front edges at the front end. The internal compartments are configured to receive pluggable modules therein through the front end. An electromagnetic interference (EMI) cover is mounted to the divider such that the EMI cover is engaged with and electrically connected to the divider. The EMI cover includes a flap that wraps around the front edge of a corresponding side wall. The flap overlaps and engages the exterior side of the corresponding side wall.

Electrical connector assembly with EMI cover

A pluggable module system includes an electrical connector assembly having a cage member with a plurality of walls defining a receptacle. The cage member has an opening in a front thereof providing access to the receptacle and a latch proximate to the opening. A receptacle connector is received in the cage member proximate to a rear thereof and is accessible in the receptacle. A pluggable module is received in the receptacle and is mated to the receptacle connector. The pluggable module has a conductive shell and a retention post that extends from the conductive shell. The retention post engages the latch to secure the pluggable module in the receptacle. The conductive shell has grounding tabs that extend from the shell. The grounding tabs circumferentially surround the conductive shell.

Pluggable module system

A receptacle connector includes a housing having a mating interface for mating with a mating connector. Ground contacts are held by the housing. The ground contacts include ground mating segments arranged along the mating interface of the housing for mating with ground terminals of the mating connector. The ground mating segments of the ground contacts include ground mating surfaces configured to engage the ground terminals. The ground mating surfaces of the ground mating segments extending within at least one ground plane. Signal contacts are held by the housing. The signal contacts include signal mating segments arranged along the mating interface of the housing for mating with signal terminals of the mating connector. The signal mating segments of the signal contacts include signal mating surfaces configured to engage the signal terminals. The signal mating surfaces of the signal contacts extend within at least one signal plane that extends parallel to and is spaced apart from the at least one ground plane.

Transceiver assembly

An electrical connector assembly includes a shielding cage member having an upper port and a lower port. A separator member extends between side walls of the cage member between the upper and lower ports. The separator member has a channel between upper and lower plates. The upper plate has an upper inner pocket facing the channel and an upper outer pocket facing the upper port. The lower plate has a lower inner pocket facing the channel and a lower outer pocket facing the lower port. An upper inner RF absorber is positioned within the upper inner pocket. An upper outer RF absorber is positioned within the upper outer pocket. A lower inner RF absorber is positioned within the lower inner pocket. A lower outer RF absorber is positioned within the lower outer pocket.

Electrical connector assembly

An electrical connector assembly includes a shielding cage member having an upper port and a lower port configured to receive pluggable modules therein with side walls along the sides of the upper and lower ports. A separator member extends between the side walls between the upper and lower ports. The separator member has an upper plate and a lower plate with a channel therebetween. The upper and lower plates have interior surface facing the channel and exterior surfaces facing the upper and lower ports, respectively. RF absorbers are positioned along the exterior surfaces and are exposed along the upper and lower ports. The RF absorbers reduce an amount of EMI propagation through the cage member. A divider wall is positioned in the channel and extends between the interior surfaces of the upper and lower plates.

A receptacle connector is provided for mating with a pluggable module having a plug and a printed circuit. The receptacle connector includes a housing having a mating receptacle and a slot. The mating receptacle is configured to receive the plug of the pluggable module therein. The slot is configured to receive the printed circuit of the pluggable module therein. A receptacle contact is held by the housing. The receptacle contact includes a receptacle mating segment that extends within the mating receptacle and is configured to engage a mating contact of the plug of the pluggable module. A slot contact is held by the housing. The slot contact includes a slot mating segment that extends within the slot and is configured to engage the printed circuit of the pluggable module.

An electrical connector assembly is provided with a shielding cage member having an upper port and a lower port configured to receive pluggable modules therein. The cage member has a front mating face that has openings to receive the pluggable modules. The cage member has side walls along the sides of the upper and lower ports and a separator member extending between the side walls between the upper and lower ports. The separator member has an upper plate and a lower plate with a channel therebetween. An RF absorber is positioned within the channel that reduces an amount of EMI emitted from the channel.

A connector assembly includes a subsidiary circuit board, connectors, and an interposer assembly. The subsidiary circuit board includes opposite sides. The connectors are mounted to the opposite sides of the subsidiary circuit board and are electrically coupled with the subsidiary circuit board. The connectors are configured to mate with mating connectors. The interposer assembly is joined with the subsidiary circuit board. The interposer assembly includes a dielectric housing and elongated contacts that extend between opposite outer ends along a vertical axis and are held by the housing. The interposer assembly mates with the subsidiary circuit board and is configured to mate with a main circuit board such that the outer ends of the contacts electrically couple the connectors mounted to the subsidiary circuit board with the main circuit board.

Modular connector system

An electrical connector assembly includes a plug connector and a receptacle connector. The plug connector has plug contacts and a shroud partially surrounding the plug contacts. The shroud has a shape that is elongated along a longitudinal axis. The stood frames the plug contacts. The receptacle connector has a nose with a shape that is elongated along the longitudinal axis. The nose includes a plurality of slots formed therein and oriented along a transverse axis relative to the longitudinal axis. The plug contacts are separated from the shroud such that when the plug and receptacle connectors are co-nested with one another, the nose is received in the shroud and the plug contacts are received in a corresponding one of the slots in order to mate the plug and receptacle connectors.

Electrical connectors with vertically oriented contacts

A connector assembly includes a contact module, signal contacts, and a ground contact. The contact module includes a dielectric body with mating and mounting edges and corresponding opposite back edges. The signal contacts are held within the contact module. The signal contacts include mating and mounting ends that protrude from the mating and mounting edges of the contact module, respectively. The signal contacts are arranged in a differential pair to convey differential signals. The ground contact is coupled to the contact module and includes mating and mounting ends that protrude from the mating and mounting edges of the contact module, respectively. The ground contact runs alongside the back edges of the contact module from the mounting edge to the mating edge.

A connector assembly is configured to mate with a receptacle assembly. The receptacle assembly includes a mating connector within an interior chamber of the receptacle assembly. The interior chamber is defined by an inner surface of the receptacle assembly that is electrically connected to an electrical ground. The connector assembly includes a housing and a latch. The housing includes a mating end configured to be inserted into the interior chamber of the receptacle assembly to mate with the mating connector. The latch includes a securing protrusion and a spring finger. The securing protrusion is configured to mechanically engage the aperture of the inner surface to secure the housing with respect to the receptacle assembly. The spring finger is shaped to electrically engage the inner surface of the receptacle assembly when the connector assembly mates with the receptacle assembly such that the latch is electrically connected to the electrical ground.

Connector assembly with electromagnetic interference contacts

An electrical connector includes a housing having a mating end and a mounting end. The electrical connector also includes a plurality of contact modules each having a web with opposed contact faces and flanges extending from ends of the web. Each contact module holds a pair of signal contacts with the signal contacts being arranged along the contact faces. The flanges and the web forming channels that expose the contact faces and signal contacts. The electrical connector includes a plurality of ground contacts each being coupled to at least one of the housing and a corresponding contact module. Each ground contact being arranged along one of the flanges of the corresponding contact module.

Electrical connector with matched coupling

An electrical connector includes a plug body having a cavity defined by outer body walls. The cavity has a cavity axis extending between a mating end and a base end of the cavity. The plug body also includes a web portion within the cavity, wherein the web portion extends along the cavity axis and includes a first side and a second side. The first and second sides are spaced apart from, and generally face, corresponding ones of the outer body walls. The plug body is configured to be received within a receptacle of a mating connector, and a portion of the mating connector is received within the cavity along the first and second sides of the web portion when the plug body is mated within the mating connector. The electrical connector also includes a plurality of contacts arranged on the web portion in differential pairs, wherein a first differential pair of contacts is positioned on the first side and a second differential pair of contacts is positioned on the second side for interfacing with the mating connector.

Modular electrical connector with enhanced plug interface

A circuit board and connector for use in an electrical connector has been provided. The circuit board comprises first and second signal contacts associated as a differential pair. A ground contact is located immediately adjacent the first signal contact and is joined directly to a ground plane provided within the circuit board. A floated contact is located immediately adjacent the second signal contact. A component interconnects the floated contact to the ground plane, forming an open circuit when a DC signal is impressed on the floated contact and a closed circuit when AC interference is impressed on the floated contact.

Method and apparatus for providing symmetrical signal return path in differential systems

A connector assembly includes a housing and a contact module assembly including first and second contact modules loaded into the housing. The first contact module has a plurality of ground leads extending between mating contacts and mounting contacts. The ground leads extend along separate paths within a first plane. The second contact module has a plurality of signal leads extending between mating contacts and mounting contacts. The signal leads extend along separate paths within a second plane. The ground leads are aligned with the signal leads in a direction transverse to the first plane, and the ground leads have a width and a thickness defining a cross-sectional area that is larger than a cross sectional area of the signal leads.
