A method for memory utilization by an electronic device is described. The method includes transferring a first portion of a first decision tree and a second portion of a second decision tree from a first memory to a cache memory. The first portion and second portion of each decision tree are stored contiguously in the first memory. The first decision tree and second decision tree are each associated with a different feature of an object detection algorithm. The method also includes reducing cache misses by traversing the first portion of the first decision tree and the second portion of the second decision tree in the cache memory based on an order of execution of the object detection algorithm.

Systems and methods for memory utilization for object detection

A particular method includes loading one or more memory images into a multi-way cache. The memory images are associated with an audio decoder, and the multi-way cache is accessible to a processor. Each of the memory images is sized not to exceed a page size of the multi-way cache.

An apparatus and method is disclosed, utilizing a communications network (in this particular design, it is a GEM (Geo-Mobile) satellite system) to initialize a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver (such one integrated into a handheld user terminal, or phone used within the communication network) to enable the GPS receiver to quickly acquire GPS satellite signals and perform positioning calculations. By systematically feeding the GPS receiver key pieces of information (GPS satellite trajectories, time estimate, position estimate, and additional positional references), the time to first fix (TTFF) of the GPS receiver can be drastically reduced.
