The invention relates to a method for producing seamlessly manufactured vehicle components, in particular vehicle flaps, having a continuous support of a thermoplastic plastics material, which vehicle components have at least one transparent region that is an integral part of the support.

The present invention relates to a polymer composition containing polycarbonate with a weight-average molecular weight Mw of from 24,000 to 33,000 and 5.0 wt. % to 20.0 wt. % (based on the total amount of the composition) of glass hollow spheres with an alkalinity of less than 1.0 meq/g. The present invention furthermore provides coextruded sheets in which the coextruded layer contains this polymer composition, and shaped articles produced therefrom, in particular containers and pieces of luggage, very particularly suitcases. Sheets which are obtainable with the polymer composition according to the invention have a high mechanical stability, a high scratch resistance, pleasant haptic properties and an excellent homogeneous external visual impression. The present invention furthermore relates to a process for the preparation of these polymer compositions and a process for production of the sheets according to the invention.

A method for preparing encapsulated red phosphorus is disclosed. The method entails obtaining a material system that contains dispersed particulate red phosphorus having a mean particle size of 0.1 to 100 &#x3bc;m in an aqueous phase that comprise urea, formaldehyde and a water-soluble silicon dioxide precursor, adding to the material system a sufficient amount of acid to lower the pH to 0 to 5 and maintaining the resulting acidic system at a temperature of 80 to 120&#xb0; C. for a period longer than one hour. The encapsulated red phosphorus of the invention is suitable for using as a flame retarding agent for plastics molding compositions.

Microencapsulated red phosphorus

A thermoplastic molding composition having good flame retarding properties and thermal stability is disclosed. The composition contains A) one or more members selected from the group consisting of polyester, polycarbonate and polyester-carbonate, B) a flame retardant component containing a nitrogen compound and a phosphorus compound C) zinc sulphide and optional functional additives and fillers and/or reinforcing agents. A method for microencapsulating red phosphorus in polymerized urea resorcinol formaldehyde resin is disclosed. The method entails (i) preparing an aqueous mixture containing urea, resorcinol and formaldehyde, (ii) adding hexamethylene tetramine and optionally water to the mixture to yield a stabilized mixture (iii) dispersing red phosphorus in the to the stabilized mixture (iv) adding acid to the reaction mixture, and (v) collecting the resulting encapsulated red phosphorus. A flame-proof polyester molding compositions is disclosed. The composition that exhibits good flame-resistance, particularly in thin-walled moldings, contains red phosphorus, nitrogen-containing compounds and a small amount of a hydrotalcite. The composition is particularly suitable for the preparation of moldings, sheeting and fibers.
