The low modulus polyimide adhesive compositions of the present invention contain a low modulus polyimidosiloxane polymer, a thermosetting substantially-non-halogenated epoxy (optionally including an epoxy catalyst), a plasticizer, an insoluble halogen-free flame-retardant filler, and optionally an adhesion promoter. The adhesive can be applied upon (or incorporated into) flexible circuits using a relatively low lamination temperature, generally no higher than 200, 190, 180, 175, 170, 165, 160, 155, or 150&#xb0; C. The adhesive is generally resistant to unwanted curl even in cases where the adhesive polyimide and the base film polyimide have a coefficient of linear thermal expansions (measured between 50&#xb0; C. and 250&#xb0; C.) that differ by more than 10, 15, 20 25, or 30 ppm/&#xb0; C.

A method for preparing high resolution, negative-working, wash-off relief images, preferably using ink jet printing, comprising the sequential steps of: (a) providing a non-photosensitive layer comprising an acid-containing polymer; (b) applying an ink imagewise to the non-photosensitive layer to produce image areas and unimaged areas, said ink comprising an esterification agent which is capable of reacting with the acid groups in the polymer to form water-insoluble ester groups; (c) drying the non-photosensitive layer to induce or accelerate the esterification reaction between the acid groups and the esterification agent in the imaged areas; and (d) washing the non-photosensitive layer with an aqueous developer solution to remove the unimaged areas of the non-photosensitive layer is described.

A process for esterifying a polymer containing carboxyl(ate) groups, by maintaining the polymer at 0.degree. C. to 200.degree. C. where the counterion for the carboxylate groups is a selected ammonium or sulfoxonium ions. Such processes are useful for preparing improved films and coatings, particularly automotive coatings.

Esterification of carboxylate containing polymers

The polymeric pigment dispersants of this invention are polyester/acrylic comb polymers which are the reaction product of 20-85% of a carboxylic functional polyester copolymer, 10-50% of an oxirane substituted acrylic copolymer, and 2 to 20% of an imide compound. These materials disperse a wide variety of pigments and are useful in solvent borne coatings where they can provide improved efficiency of pigment use, lower paint viscosity, and reduced emission of volatile organic solvent.

Comb pigment dispersants

Processes are provided for making polycarbodiimides with high carbodiimide contents from isocyanates, and for selectively making mixed aryl-tertiary carbodiimides from isocyanates. Also provided are carbodiimides containing alpha-methylstyryl groups, and polymers made therefrom. All of these polymers and compounds are useful in coatings, and for other applications.

An electronic water faucet is disclosed, including means for detecting the presence of an object near an outlet of said faucet and determining whether or not noise or reflected light is being sensed. The faucet includes a swivelable spout relative to a main body. Position sensing means for sensing the angular position of the spout are included. The angular positions which the spout can assume are designed to various zones, and those zones are programmed to be active or not active in an automatic mode of operation of the faucet. A rotary mixing valve for supplying and mixing hot and cold water using a cam and deformable seal is used to partially seal hot and cold water inlets.

Block copolymers composed of similar monomers, but which exhibit subtantially different polarity, one of the blocks having cationic ammonium, phosphonium, or sulfonium moieties. The block copolymers, which are preferably prepared by group transfer polymerization techniques provide excellent performance as pigment dispersants, without the need for special salt-forming components.
